An ESPN report, which breaks news that WR Matt Jones will work out for the Titans, indicates the Cowboys and Bears also have interest in the former first-round pick whose tenure in Jacksonville ended in large part due to off-field troubles.

All indications coming from Valley Ranch are that signing Jones, who caught 65 passes for 761 yards in 12 games last season, isn't a consideration.

Jerry Jones has said repeatedly that he wasn't interested in his fellow former Razorback. After the Cowboys learned last week that Roy Williams' shoulder injury wasn't serious, Jerry said that the Cowboys wouldn't consider adding any veteran receiver.

You have to take Jerry's public comments about personnel (especially the receiver position) with a shaker of salt, but there aren't any Valley Ranch whispers indicating that Jones is even a remote possibility at this point.

It is amazing that ESPN continue to get away with the blatant lies regarding the cowboys and crackhead jones.

cowboys should of brought Jones in a month ago, only spped at wideout is Austin. You can bank it that either hurd, crayton and Austin will be injured and miss significant time, all three are made of glass. Hurd is already injured AGAIN!!!!.

Nobody pushed harder for this move than I did, but even I can't see any reason for any interest at this point.

The time to have brought Jones in has passed.

Training camp and preseason is the time to get receivers acclimated to the playbook, schemes and quarterback.

And this team seems to have a nice group of 5 candidates who should adequately fill the need.

And all have stayed healthy - for the most part - throughout training camp and preseason and should be ready for the season.

Amazing that ESPN continues to include the Cowwboys' hame when Jones has stated time and time again that there is no interest.

Cowboys sell I guess....

Dudes a top 15 WR, the fact that no one has picked him up is interesting.

That, or you're grossly overestimating Matt Jones. It's so hard to say.

hey stasheroo.

not trying to start a fight but shouldnt you change your picture (Fire Wade)

I was very unhappy we brought him back and I actually believe he will fail.....I even said to some of my friends... Im taking this year off because Wade will fail and we will have a new coach next year ( which I still do think will happen.... but I hope Im wrong )

With all that said, I think with a little over a week before the season starts we need to get behind our team and our head coach. Wade got everything he wanted to susceed. No more lockeroom problem excuses ( wasnt he running the lockeroom? ) So I say lets get behind Wade 100% at least for the first game and if Dallas doesnt play well with the talent they have then start calling for his head again.... I know I will.

Stash is on a ledge somewhere.

I'm alive and well and waiting for Jones to sign with the Titans.

Then I'll watch to see if he does well or he fails.

No more, no less.

But it will be interesting to see if public opinion around here changes if one of the Cowboys' receivers goes down with injury.

Jones' stock soared the other night when Roy Williams got hurt.

Not as far as the Cowboys front office is concerned.

A little birdie just told me he will be a Titan by the end of day. His workout went well and he is meeting with Management right now.

It's obsurd to think the Cowboys are not interested in Jones because every NFL team should be. And the Cowboys should be mentioned among "those more likely to be interested" because most of their WRs are virtually unproven up and down their WR-roster.

But the Cowboys, like every other interested team, will play it smart and play "coy" about their actual interest, unlike the Titans who are advertising it because they are flat out desperate at the position. That's why Jones will likely be a Titan before the season starts.

And if Jones is not a Titan before the season starts then it's either because he can't pass a physical, or because the Titans aren't as impressed with him or as desperate as I think, or that the Titans are willinag to take the chace to compete for his sevices with other teams, after the season starts.

Once a season starts, a player who is signed later does so with no contract-guarantee (unlike when his contract is guaranteed if he signs before the officail season-start). So once the season starts I think many teams will schedule workouts with Jones if he's still available, and the most interest team will sign him to a game-by-game, league minimum, contract.

And I can easily see Dallas - among others - being one of those teams, as they should be.

That we'll never know since Roy's x-rays proved negative.

But Jones got a lot of support that night from folks around here - until the x-rays came back negative - then it was back to business as usual.
