Maybe Marion Barber shouldn't have played last two games

Jerry Jones was miffed in Pittsburgh that Marion Barber didn't play against the Steelers a few weeks ago. Now Wade Phillips wonders whether it would have been better for Barber to sit the last couple games, too.

Barber's dislocated right pinkie toe hasn't made much progress. And the Cowboys didn't get much production from him the last two games, when he rushed for a grand total of 2 yards on 10 carries.

"Maybe we shouldn't have played him at all," Phillips said today. "Maybe he'd be well now. There's a second guess right there. Maybe we should have just left him out, but he only played a few plays last game. Hopefully it'll clear up pretty soon."

Barber has had trouble planting and cutting off his right foot, which is kind of important for a running back. The Cowboys anticipate he'll be a game-time decision for the third straight week.

maybe Marion shouldn't have gotten a big contract and been the starter. maybe our coaches coulda used our other runningbacks more.

Be careful. You might get your fanhood questioned for having some common sense.

the coaches could of used the other runningbacks regardless of how much barber was getting paid. And barber is paid because he finishes games like the one against the skins.

Dont be stupid. You were one of the fools who laughed at me saying Barber was playing at an average level outside of the GB game and 4th quarter at Washington.

Anyone with any ounce of sense or who understand the nature of toe injuries could tell you Barber wasn't ready to return to the NY Giants game.

You need all of your toes for balance. If you injure just one, that can severely hamper how you walk, much less how you run.

The Cowboys should have just gone with Choice. But select individuals (who will go mentionless) tried to "guilt" Barber into playing, questioning his toughness - which was ridiculous.

Let the man heal. He's hurt. And it's a toe injury at that. If we can't beat Philadelphia without him, please stop saying we have the most talented roster in the league.

The most talented roster should be able to dispose of the Eagles.

We will...I don't have a doubt in my mind. This next game is going to completely turn this board around!

Watch and see....people have to realize that the eagles are really not that good anymore! They are confused, old, and their QB and coach are under more fire than the Cowboys team are.

Check it out!

yes i agree and its the NFL......every back in the league gets hurt westbrook, tomilson, stephen jackson, frank gore, darren mcfadden, felix jones, bradon jacobs, adrian peterson, ronnie brown, cadilac williams, clinton portis, marshawn lynch, lawrence maroney, joseph addai,..............need i say more its football everyone gets hurt thats why its called depth every team needs it. and its a reason why all these scat backs are what they are.

having a tough brusing rb is as big as having a closer and setup man in baseball thats why the giants arent the same team without jacobs like we arent without barber.

stop drinking the choice kool aid folks ask a cornerback, wideout, and running back how important it is to be able to cut, and plant your feet you guys need to get real:bang2: :bang2:

Wow, what a bunch of idiots running the organization... MBIII is obviously hurt, rest him and let Choice do the job because he's proving to be a workhorse running back.

It's not your fanhood that gets questioned. It's your intellect.

Dont question Barber's toughness or his pinky toe:

By Bryan Burwell
Of the Post-Dispatch
Thursday, Jan. 27 2005

Even through the long-distance telephone lines, Jack Youngblood still sounds
like a robust man-mountain. His laugh seems to resonate from the depths of some
colossal cavern, full of rich echoes and rumbling thunder.

"Hmmmmmmm," he said, his voice booming with a deep and soothing laugh, "For
some odd reason a lot of folks want to talk to me today. Wonder why I'm so
popular today?"
Of course he knew exactly why his phone was lighting up like a casino slot
machine. Twenty-five years ago, Jack Youngblood played in Super Bowl XIV with
his broken left leg wrapped tightly in tape and metal braces. A quarter of a
century later, Youngblood remains the model of old-school football
sensibilities and legendary, tough-as-nails athletic courage because, after his
fibula was "snapped like a pencil" by two chop-blocking Dallas Cowboys
offensive linemen, the Los Angeles Rams defensive end ignored doctors' orders
and common sense and played in a divisional playoff, the NFC championship game
and the Super Bowl.
And now someone is trying to follow in Youngblood's madman/tough guy footsteps.
Six and a half weeks after he broke his ankle, Eagles wide receiver Terrell
Owens announced that he has every intention of playing in Super Bowl XXXIX. His highly respected doctor, who a few days ago rather publicly refused to give
Owens a clean bill of heath, says the star receiver is out of his mind and is
worried that Owens is flirting with medical disaster.
So even with two screws and a plate still inserted under his skin, T.O. says no
one will stop him from playing. A lot of folks think they know what must be
running through Owens' mind - or at least what they think should be running
through his mind. Some former players have said he's crazy. Some commentators,
writers and fans have rolled their eyes at him and muttered that this is just
another headline-grabbing, attention-snatching stunt by the master
self-promoter. Other less opinionated folks are unsure whether T.O. is being
courageous or crazy.
But Hall of Famer Jack Youngblood is the one man who truly knows what would
motivate Owens to indulge in such risky business.
"If you have a true passion for the game, what else are you gonna do?"
Youngblood said. "You're a football player. That's what football players do. I
hear people talk about he's taking a risk of ending his career. Well, you know
what I say to that? What risk? You mean the same risk he took 6 1/2 weeks ago
when he broke it the first time? You mean the same risk every football player
takes every time they walk out on the field, no matter how healthy they may be?
Come on, that's the price you pay to play this game. The risk is no different
on Dec. 6 as it is on Super Bowl Sunday. We all know it, and we all accept it."
