Mendenhall, Johnson coming to Dallas

Albert Breer E-mail News tips

Illinois RB Rashard Mendenhall and East Carolina RB Chris Johnson have been scheduled in to visit Valley Ranch during the third week of April.

Getting Mendenhall -- the guy I consider the best tailback in the draft -- would positively require a trade up. The 5-foot-10, 225-pound powerhouse has a slew of visits set up, and has had his tires kicked by the Jets, all the way up at sixth overall.

Johnson, meanwhile, is lurking in the early second-round range, after running the fastest 40-yard dash time at the combine. So there would probably be some manuevering taking place if the Cowboys wanted to take him, or they could just bite the bullet and select him at 28th overall. Johnson will be at the Ranch on April 16 and 17.

We've now got 17 of the 30 allotted visits nailed down. Here they are ...

UNLV ILB Beau Bell
Texas A&M TE Martellus Bennett
Virginia Tech OT Duane Brown
Arizona CB Antoine Cason
Texas RB Jamaal Charles
Missouri WR Will Franklin
Virginia Tech CB Brandon Flowers
Iowa CB Charles Godfrey
Indiana WR James Hardy
East Carolina RB Chris Johnson
Arkansas RB Felix Jones
Oklahoma WR Malcolm Kelly
Troy CB Leodis McKelvin
Illinois RB Rashard Mendenhall
Indiana CB Tracy Porter
USC LB Keith Rivers
Tennessee State CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

I was about to post the same thing.

whatever happened to Aqib Talib? wasn't his name mentioned as a player we invited?

out of that list

22. Felix Jones
28. James Hardy
60. Brandon Flowers

that would be a hell of a 1st day

Was he one of the local guys we got to bring in without it counting against the 30? Because I think that list is only of the out of town prospects or whatever it's called.

EDIT: Yeah he's a local product so we got to bring him in for "free" so to speak.

Talib invited to Valley Ranch

Kansas CB Aqib Talib, a Richardson Berkner product, will visit the Cowboys facility in mid-April, joining UNLV LB Beau Bell and Arizona CB Antoine Cason as those set to come to Valley Ranch.

Talib's case is a little different than those of the other two. Because he's a local product, the team is allowed to conduct a workout with him at Valley Ranch, something the Cowboys can't do with out-of-area prospects. And his presence will not count against the team's quota of 30 in-house visits with draft-eligible players.

Nice find adam.

I'm here to please.

Out of the list of guys we've brought in, I think I like the combo of

Cason, Charles, and Hardy

I really liked Malcolm Kelly, but that story about his knees or whatever it was, kinda made me think twice, so I'm not so sure anymore.

I agree that Albert is going to be really good. Even though G isn't a big need, I wouldn't be upset if he was there and we took him at 28.

I wouldn't hesitate to grab him at #28, but the steelers and seahawks are very high on him. If we wanted him, it would have to be at #22 and that IMO is a little too high for him.
