When I see Miles Austin leapfrog another player in an endzone celebration yesterday, a week after the team was flagged 15 yards in what proved to be a very costly penalty for celebration in the end zone, I would have bet you right then any amount of money you wanted that they wouldn't have another penalty like that this year. To have another one the following week is inexcusable."

Golic: "I'm not saying that Wade Phillips is not responsible as well. But at what point does your kid do something wrong, and you say 'It's the parent.' In college, if my kid makes a mistake there, do people say it's my fault? When he's two years into the business world or in the NFL or wherever, do you say that's the parents' fault? At what point does that stop and you say it's the kid's fault? They need to learn a little bit. That's Miles Austin's fault, not Wade Phillips' fault. Wade Phillips has some culpability there, but that is Miles Austin's fault.

Greenberg: Do something. Do something that sends a message. Send a message that's not being hurt.

Golic: I agree with that. If you're telling me to assign a blame, the higher percentage goes to to the players. They're professionals. They've been doing this all their stinking lives. Don't hop over somebody in the end zone like an idiot. That's his fault. Not Wade Phillips' fault.

Do something about it? Other than talking with the player does this guy want Wade to Bench Miles? That will teach him it will also take one of the most explosive players in the NFL out of the lineup not a smart thing to do when a this team needs every weapon we can have.

I take it even further if I am this team. I stop talking to the media. I tell them that the 5 minutes they spend answering questions about what is wrong is a wasted 5 minutes. I don't provide seats on the plane for the media any more. They're on their own.

They were really ripping on the Cowboys and Wade Phillips, but they must have called Miles Austin and idiot at least twenty times. If that doesn't get Miles' attention I sure don't know what else would.

I truly believe the majority of the players on this team do not care about winning. They just want the money and the fame that comes from being a Dallas Cowboy.

Yep, and the refs acted like the corrupt cop. You weren't speeding, but he'll give you a ticket anyway relying on the fact that he has "authority", forgetting that he's not above the law.

I agree. But Austin and Roy had never done this in the past. There is no way he could have been 100% sure the ref was not going to throw a flag on that. You have to admit id did look premeditated. What if Miles starts to leap and Roy moves away quickly? It could have resulted in a serious injury, so I can understand why the ref may have thought it was planned out in advance. Any way with the Cowboys being in the dire straights they are in why take a chance? It was still as Greeney said over and over, an idiotic play by Austin.

Greeney apparently went on national radio without having done a shred of homework and ripped a player for committing a penalty that he never committed, even according to the league. Sounds like "Greeney" is an expert on idiocy.

Fine him. Yell at him. Hell, I don't even mind suspending a guy a game to make a opoint - even if it's Austin. If you tiptoe around and ask nicely and the players know you don't have the backbone to do anything then you can't coach effectively.

And yes, I know it was on Hurd. The point remains, it should have been VERY clear after the game 2 weeks ago that nothing that even remotely resembles or could be taken as an excessive celebration will be tolerated.

Because flashing the Longhorn symbol is excessive to anyone who has common sense, right?

Oh, I forgot, the refs don't use common sense according to the head official. It's all black and white, just like their uniforms.

What does that have to do with anything? Roy played well and has one of the most understated TD celebrations in football. There are a lot of things to be wishing for right now with this team, for Roy to not throw up the horns shouldn't be anywhere on the list.

It's known that anything choreographed can be called, and both the Austin leap, and the fact that both Hurd and Roy did the UT thing could be taken as such. Sure I think calling it on Hurd was nitpicking, but you and I can think it's nitpicking all we want and that doesn't change the fact that there is the possibility of a penalty being called.

Do you really want to play the martyr and lose games in order to make a point? Do we want to keep playing around with different celebrations to see what we can get by with, all the while knowing that if we don't get by it could cost us the game? I don't. That's why Wade should have made it very clear after the penalty hurt us 2 weeks ago that nothing even remotely out of the ordinary would be done after a TD, and it should have been clear that there would be consequences if that order was ignored.
