The Cowboys made official today the signings of wide receiver Mike Jefferson and offensive lineman Ryan Gibbons to the practice squad.

Jefferson was released Monday to make room for QB Brooks Bollinger after being called up to the active roster as an emergency for Sunday's game at Cleveland. He essentially takes the spot he held a week ago on the practice squad.

The Cowboys hoped James Marten would clear waivers and sign on to the practice squad but he was claimed by Oakland (and Chicago too but awarded to the Raiders because they had the worse record of the two in 2007).

Gibbons was among the Cowboys' final cuts in training camp. He can play all three line spots, which is a plus for practice squadders.

Hey Duane,

How have you been old buddy?

:)

Great bro, just busy with storm stuff in LA. Electric lines were hit pretty hard.

Bad news in that area. It's usually pretty dry in Souther Ca. this time of year. Keep yourself out of harms way. Post more if you can.

I was wondering if Gibbons was still on their radar... as noted in the article, he is versatile, and at center, he has Andre Gurode-type size... maybe a year in the Boys' system will help him get ready for prime time...

I'm just glad they didn't have the option of wasting any more time on Marten.

Next on the hit list?

McQuistan.

He's gotten worse instead of better and seems ill-suited for a Hudson Houck line.

Maybe we can get a draft pick from Parcells?

He seemed to like him.

That Ireland did not even put a claim on Marten is pretty telling.
