DMN Blog: Mike Jenkins ready to change the script

Mike Jenkins' first trip to Giants Stadium last year had the best and worst moment of his rookie season.

The best was when he returned an interception of Eli Manning for a touchdown. Unfortunately that became a side note when he whiffed on a tackle of Derrick Ward and led to many questioning his toughness.

"I definitely used it during the off-season when I was training but not during the season," Jenkins said. "When I get to the game, I'm just playing the game. I don't want my mind to lingering on another thing."

Jenkins did not start in the first meeting with the Giants at Cowboys Stadium because it was Orlando Scandrick's time to start. New York tore through the secondary with Eli Manning throwing for 330 yards with Mario Manningham (150 yards) and Steve Smith (134 yards) each scoring a touchdown in the first meeting.

The Cowboys have not allowed a 100-yard receiver since.

"Let alone two dudes over 100 yards, we don't want one to have 100," Jenkins said. "We'll just go out there and press it down on them and see what the outcome is and bring our A game definitely."

Um.. don't you all remember that it's OBVIOUS that Scandrick is better than Jenkins? The only reason Jenkins is starting over him is because he was a 1st round pick?

Every knew this at the beginning of the season, it was "obvious" as someone said. What happened to that?

Mike Jenkins A disgrace to the Star: I have never said that in my 32 years of being a fan of this team. To quit on that run play and not tackle Ward....I'm glad Fox caught it because it was so obvious I caught it live. He was at the EIGHT YARD LINE FOR GOD SAKES

Jenkins should be fined and suspended a game for this crap. it was disgraceful. Wade phillips is a joke too.

I was one of those people who said Scandrick was and will be better but boy was i wrong.

Jenkins is looking like the best CB taken in that very deep draft thus far. It has taken him a bit longer than we'd like but he's doing a lot better this year than McKelvin (IR), DRC, Flowers, Cason, etc...

Hey, him making amends for for a mistake doesn't make what he did any less of a mistake. I remember and I cursed my *** off. If he gets better because of it, great, but it was still a bull**** thing for a pro to do and he deserved to be criticized for it. The ire that followed might have been the best thing for him.

Correct.. I don't even know why some of of these posters think they can convince anyone that they thought otherwise. Jenkins has truly turned the corner and I for one am thankful he has. Scandrick has also played very solid. As I have stated many times before, these two are our future at corner.

That all said, the whiff by Jenkins deserved everything it got. I believe he learned a nice lesson from that at a very early point in his NFL career.

Jenkins improved game by game, Scandrick regressed.

Scandrick isn't as fast isn't as hard of a hitter and isn't a ball hawk like jenkins I don't see how scandrick is better.

What he did was chicken****. If you're gonna rub something is people's faces, you should try to find the posts where people say he can't play.

No amount of solid play will ever add any amount of manliness to cowering down the way he did.
