Miles Austin knew the Pro Bowl announcement was coming today, but he was not sitting by the phone waiting for a call. In fact he was at a movie theatre, watching Sherlock Holmes when his cell phone rang.

Not wanting to be rude to the paying customers, he waited until later to see who called. It was Jerry Jones wanting to tell Austin he was heading to the NFL's All-Star game on Jan. 31 at Dolphin Stadium.

"I think it's cool," Austin said. "It's an accomplishment. It's definitely something I'm proud to have done, but that being said we still have to lock in. I think all the guys know that and how serious this next game is for us."

Where would the Cowboys be if D.J. Williams did not hit Roy Williams in the ribs in Week 4, forcing Austin into the starting lineup at Kansas City? In his first start, Austin caught 10 passes for a franchise-record 250 yards and two touchdown, including the game-winner in overtime against the Chiefs.

Since then he has flourished.

Entering the season finale against the Eagles, Austin has 74 catches for 1,230 yards and 11 touchdowns and is the first homegrown Cowboys wide receiver to make the Pro Bowl since Michael Irvin in 1995.

Not bad for an undrafted free agent in 2006 that entered 2009 with 18 catches for 354 yards and three touchdowns in his career.

"I never had a chip on my shoulder or anything like that," Austin said. "I'm happy to have done it, but that being said this week's game is more important. If we weren't going to the playoffs I might feel different about it because that would be something to look forward to, but we've got this game [vs. Philadelphia] to look forward to."

I think it's time to get to work on a contract extension.

Great!

This will help us forget that management missed out on:
Chris Johnson RB Titans
Steve Wallace WR Steelers
Knoxx WR Chicago

And that's just last seasons draft!

What?!?!?

You mean he's at the movie theater and not at Valley Ranch studying his playbook?

He's not serious about winning this Sunday.

I don't care where we get good players, just as long as we get them.

In a couple of years, I wouldn't be surprised if our starting quarterback and both starting receivers came to us as undrafted rookies (Romo, Austin and Ogletree).

Miles. You are pro-bowler now. You can do better than these skanks. You need to get with Romo to get some pointers.

His reaction could not possibly have been any better.

Chris Johnson was not drafted last year. And who gives a crap about those other 2 receivers? Our management was savvy enough to get Ogletree as an UDFA and I'm sure he has at least as much potential as those guys.

Edit: Oh, and btw, congratulations Miles!

and who is Knoxx? I hadn't heard of him before last nights game. In fact, he was so good in the draft, every NFL team passed up on him 4 times +. RW has more yards with less receptions than him. Let me repeat that. RW has more yards with less receptions.

Secondly, I'm tired of the same lame rant by everyone about the RB's Dallas passed up for Felix. They just signed Barber, they weren't going to sign another starter.

Let it go.

Yes, mike Wallace. Sorry about that.
I wanted him in the draft and he's averaging 18.7 ypc. and is the deep threat we are missing.

I should cast so much doom when a fellow small town jersey guy makes it to the pro bowl.
