Are the Cowboys one pick away from greatness? Yahoo! sports writer Doug Farrar thinks it's possible. Farrar recently came up with a list of 10 teams that could potentially draft their way to a Super Bowl title in next month's draft.

Minnesota, Green Bay and fellow NFC East foe Philadelphia were the only other NFC teams to earn that distinction.

Included in the article was an area within each team that needs improvement. Farrar's position of focus for the Cowboys: left tackle. A snippet:

Any doubt where the Cowboys need to turn in the draft were probably erased by what the Vikings' defense did to Tony Romo, and by proxy Romo's offensive line, in the 34-3 Divisional Playoff beatdown. Romo was shellshocked almost from the start of the game, took six sacks, and amassed a 20.8 passer rating in the second half. Jerry Jones seems to be convinced that Doug Free could start at left tackle, but Free may be a better swing tackle in the end. With the 27th pick, the 'Boys might look at Maryland's Bruce Campbell -- he's got the size and agility needed, though he'll need experience before his game tape matches his 40 time.

Check out the entire article here.

Campbell would need 2-3 years min of pine splinters before he was NFL ready but bringing in one tackle, one center, and one guard would spice things up in practice and make way for 2011 or 2012 line wise. Get us a return guy and we'd be complete for a SB run imo...

Kicker, returner and a play-making safety in that order.

Also ahead of LT would be:

Center, guard, SILB, NT and possibly DE.

Kicker is often forgotten, but yes kicker should be main priority.

THEN safety. Then returner.

We may have the safety in house in M. Hamlin. Also if we get a full year of Spencer playing like the second half, a healthy Ware, and increased production from Williams, Williams and Butler we may get the big plays anyway.

Currently we have no KR. Felix is off limits, so is Austin. Ogletree showed zip. Even with the two TDs I will remind all Crayton lost the job prior to them. I would really prefer 1 guy doing both and a game changer there could greatly impact our scoring.

kicker is not a priority and we shouldn't draft one. We are fine at kicker.

lol that you think the teams biggest need is a freaking kicker.

Yeah missed FGs had no impact in our losses last year.

And an FYI, nobody said we should draft a kicker, but we must have a reliable option to take the next step. Best case is Boniol can get Buehler to be a consistent kicker.

Is Boniol working with Buehler?

Thanks for the link. I think Buehler can learn a lot from him. I always appreciated what Boniol did for the Cowboys. If he can help mold Buehler into a consistant fg kicker, then I'm all for it.

really??

may be right about Campbell as a player, but we do need a LT and LG. Flozell is not gonna do it for us anymore. As far as Free goes, he has shown an ability at RT but can he transitition to LT, and where does that leave us when you take your backup and make him a starter. IMO we need these positions in the draft (assuming we do not grab anyone in FA of course):

LT, Safety, LG (I can live with any order here, but prefer Off. line as that is most important position IMO)
NT
WR
CB
K (although I do believe we should go with a FA or hope to get lucky later in the draft if no FA available)

Bruce Campbell = workout warrior, tissue paper on field performance. This guy didn't even get all american consideration in just the ACC, if I'm not mistaken.

Living here in MD, the only thing I ever heard about him was absolutely nothing when I did watch MD games.

Free is a LT, he transitioned to RT. He played well OUT OF POSITION, so there is no reason to believe he can't play well at LT.

Yes we should draft a tackle but not in the first 3 rounds. Look at last year. We had Flo, Colombo and Free active on game day. When Colombo went down Flo, Free and McQ.

This year if we dump Adams we go with Free, Colombo and Brewster and develop the draft pick who replaces McQ.

REALLY? Pro bowlers in both positions,

OL priority should be: LG, Swing Tackle, RT, RG, C.

I think Dallas needs some youth like everyone else, but Dallas needs some people with more agility.

I can't wait for Free to take over at LT. I like Flo, but I just think Free can play. He plays hard, and moves quick.
