If Jason Garrett ever has the interim tag taken away and becomes the Cowboys head coach, you have to hope he is good with personnel.

The coach of the Cowboys has more power than people realize. If the coach says he wants a player, Jones will do what he can to get him. If the coach doesn't want a player, Jones will mostly listen to him as well. He didn't draft Randy Moss for a lot of reasons but one was that Chan Gailey didn't want him. He signed Terrell Owens even if Bill Parcells didn't really want him.

When the Cowboys have been successful in Jones' time as owner, they have had head coaches that knew personnel extremely well. Jimmy Johnson knew the talent coming out of college because he attempted to recruit most out of it to Miami. Parcells had GM experience when he came to the Cowboys and had a way he wanted to shape the roster.

I agree, but if you think Garrett is the guy, you gotta give him power to make personell moves on his own. IF he bombs at the job, then he bombs and we get a new HC but you can't cripple the guy right off the bat.

I still think he needs to hire an OC and DC though. They can be of his choice, but he should definitely get some guys in here with experience.

I'm sure if Garrett earns the job then he will have that opportunity in the offseason.

People forget we aren't just talking about a guy who is new to the game. He has a long family history to this game and that family has a proven track record as well.

I understand his family history but the only thing that really matters to me is the path he makes for himself. I don't care who his daddy was or who his friends were or where he went to school, to be perfectly honest.

I'd be just as willing to get a good coach in here that whose dad was a mechanic, went to community college, played DIII football, and played pro football in Canada.

All I want are results.

Actually it does matter because it effects that bottom line you want.

His family have been in the scouting business which means Garrett has actually looked at what talent looks like on film at various levels. That's a big bonus compared to coaches who have only coached the players they have been handed.

All that said JG was part of why we drafted Felix Jones and other recent offensive choices so we have some initial idea there.

I have read that Garrett does know talent. He was very high on Avery Wr for the Rams when he came out. This is the same guy I beleived torched us when he played them a few years back. I say just give him a chance to make the personnel moves and if it does not work out than it is on him.

I have seen him play BJ, I have seen him do nothing w/ the oline, I have seen him start Barber and not play choice when choice proved himself against Pitt and Balt.

When he makes the next good personell move,it will be his first.

And the red sea will part again
