Finally a new rule not based on the Cowboys or one of their players. Don't know about the rest of the NFL, but fan activity in Phlly is totally out of control--too often involving excessive drinking. When obnoxious fans feel it's their right to throw batteries off upper levels of the stadium at opposing teams, etc., it's long past the time when something should have been done. he fight, something must be done.
Never seemed to me that security personnel or whoever in charge of keeping the peace at Eagles stadium and elsewhere did as much as they could to stop problems except bring in a judge & jail who supposedly administered justice. Can't help thinking more security types roaming the stadiums, combined with repeated announcements of losing ticket privileges, being thrown out of the stadium, publicizing individuals' names, and/or facing heavy fines (starting at minimum of $500 or 5 days in jail for particularly outlandish acts) would get the job done.
OTOH, must admit I'm concerned the whole thing could go too far. Haven't been to an NFL game in many years but standing up and cheering for my team when they scored, etc., is what footballs all about. But I've heard some Cowboy fans who do that at Texas Stadium have been told to sit down. It's one thing if other fans upset cause they can't see the game; it's something else if a stadium security guy tells you standing up isn't allowed. Fans should certainly stand up and cheer their team, particularly when they make a great play, score a TD, etc. It's part of why football is the national sport.
