This from DMN's Todd Archer:

At a ceremony in which 12 oak trees were transplanted from Texas Stadium in Irving to Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, owner and general manager Jerry Jones said there will not be a Ring of Honor ceremony this year.

"But it will be every bit as emphasized in the new stadium as it was at Texas Stadium," Jones said.

The Cowboys have not inducted any players into the Ring of Honor since the Triplets - Michael Irvin, Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith - were added on Sept. 19, 2005.

Also the Cowboys have yet to pick a place for the Tom Landry statue at the new stadium but it will be done before the season begins.

As for the trees, the team had them transplanted to the West plaza at the new stadium at a cost of roughly $200,000 according to Jones. The area will be known as the Texas Stadium grove.

The last of the trees was put in place Wednesday completing a month long process.

I really can't fathom Drew not already being in there. There HAS to be some kind of bad blood between him and Jerry for that guy not to be in there. He should be in the pro football hall of fame.

This is a pretty slim list of Super Star quality players, only 15 players ever? I think we all feel the sports writers are biased against the Cowboys when it comes to voting players into the Hall of Fame, but the ROH is only slightly less inclusive.

Jerry, this is a stupid move and frankly I don't appreciate it.

Drew Pearson made that 88 jersey very famous in the 1970s and early 1980s.

Why isn't he in the Hall of Fame? The NFL wasn't a wide open passing league when he played.

Harvey Martin needs to in there too, same as Drew Pearson. The next one in of the 90's Cowboys should be Jimmy Johnson IMO.

I also think Cornell Green and George Andrie deserve consideration.

Dispute Between Pearson, Jones Over Trademark Examined

Men Of Honor: Pearson Says
Trademark Was Not Producing

The dispute over the trademark to the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor between team Owner Jerry Jones and Drew Pearson Marketing, the licensing company of former Cowboys WR Drew Pearson, was examined by Tom Orsborn of the SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS. In ’93, Pearson, without Jones’ knowledge, gained the trademark from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Pearson: “We presented the Cowboys a proposal of what we wanted to do. Jerry was interested, but he wanted to study it himself.” While Jones “eventually decided to produce his own Ring of Honor merchandise,” Pearson said, “We told him he couldn’t because we had the trademark.” Pearson gave up the trademark in ’95. Pearson: “It wasn’t producing for us. There was no need to re-register. The only way we would have done something with it was if it was in connection with the Cowboys, and we had a difficult time getting them to do that.” Univ. of Texas law professor Ronald Mann said that it is “unlikely Pearson could have profited from the trademark.” Mann: “Under trademark law, the Cowboys would get an exclusive right to use ‘Ring of Honor’ in the market in which they were using it as soon as they used it enough for consumers to identify that name with the Cowboys” (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS, 5/7).

I have said this before and I still believe it is true. With the closing of Texas Stadium and with the fact that the first of Jerry's Boys' have been inducted (the Triplets), the window for Landry's Cowboys to be inducted into the ROH has officially closed.

An absolute travesty considering the players who will never receive their due.......:(
