Hi everyone. I'm on assignment out at the Terrell Owens Youth Football Summer Camp. The day has already heated up and after an hour of registration, the field is now jam-packed with kids. But so far there has been no sign of T.O.

I have heard that Owens is supposed to arrive later on in the morning, along with Adam Jones, Michael Irvin and three-time U.S. Olympic gold medalist Maurice Greene. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

At the moment, the camp is being run by ex-college players and different coaches from around the area.

From the parent of one of the Zone campers:
Tyler saw some of his old teammates and coaches there. At first, he was kinda nervous because he didn't know anybody. When he saw them, then he relaxed. They spoke to her and him saying he definitely needed to be there.

Donnie will prolly stick to Tyler like glue. He's kind of a loner and it takes a minute for him to come out of his shell.

Both boys are so laid back, she said it was hard for her to tell whether they were excited or not. Finally, she told them to act like they were excited.

She said there was ALOT of people there. It took her 40 mins to get them registered. It's really hot up there, so she gave them all the necessary precautions about staying hydrated and telling somebody if they don't feel well. Overall, she feels they're in good hands and are really gonna benefit by participating in it.

TO probably just wants to make a grand entrance.

doesnt he always....

I was at training camp in San Antonio last year and it seemed like he would always wait till the last possible minute to report to practice. And then he would make sure that everyone in the building knew he was running onto the field by doing something completely out of the norm. IDK it just cracks me up.

Terrell Owens just showed up to Duncanville High School, along with Marion Barber III, Sam Hurd and Owens' agent Drew Rosenhaus. In spite of being late, the 287 kids welcomed him with loud cheers. It wasn't until he actually started talking that the kids quieted down.

In front of everyone, T.O. talked about how important education was to him. He then urged the campers to stay away from drugs and alcohol and to always respect their parents. Every face was directed right at him and no one said a word.

Owens speech was accompanied by a few words from the reserved Marion Barber and a long talk from Rosenhaus. The agent reflected on how far his two clients, Barber and Owens, had come and how he hopes to one day be the agent for some people at the camp. He finished by saying how he managed to get both Owens and Barber new contracts for the upcoming season.

As the kids filed away for lunch, T.O. gave almost all of them high-fives. I overheard a small group of little guys say that they will never wash their hands again. (That's so cute. :) )

Adam Jones has yet to show up, but Owens said that he will probably drop by tomorrow.

Does this ****head know what "supposed to" means? It means that it was the plan all along.

Then later....

What the hell? "Just" .... "being late"... the writer is implying that Owens was supposed to be there earlier, but he makes clear earlier that Owens was supposed to be there later in the morning which apparently Owens was.

It really pisses me off to see this writer giving him grief when what Owens is doing is undeniably A Good Thing.

I was one of the biggest opponents to bringing TO here. But he has proven me wrong and earned a degree of trust from me. He has proven to be a good citizen, good teammate, and a hell of a ball player.

It makes me want to slap the spite out of this writer for giving Owens grief when he is doing a good thing.

Lunchtime is over and everyone is back out on the field at Owens' summer camp. He may have gotten here late, but Owens is wasting no time getting involved. As the kids did jumping jacks, T.O. walked around and instructed the campers on their form.

Then as they ran sprints, he demonstrated how to move your arm in order to pivot quicker. He even ran with them for a few turns.

To answer an earlier question, a representative told me that Irvin is supposed to come by later on in the day and Greene is coming by tomorrow.

Guess who showed up at T.O.'s football camp?

July 9, 2008 4:25 PM

Posted by ESPN.com's Matt Mosley

Two years ago, Terrell Owens tested the patience of North Texas children by showing up fashionably (six hours) late to his own football camp. The camp was such a success that he decided not to hold it in 2007, but this afternoon, kids ranging from ages 7-17 gathered at Duncanville High School in the Dallas suburbs to learn from the Cowboys' All-Pro receiver.

By noon, I'm told there were some anxious faces in the crowd. Would T.O. take time off from his vacation to stop by the camp bearing his name? But at 12:30, a huge cheer went up. That's right, the box lunches had arrived.

No, T.O. showed up with Cowboys running back Marion Barber, receiver Sam Hurd and agent Drew Rosenhaus. Owens talked to the kids about avoiding accidental drug use and other pitfalls.

According to the Dallas Morning News summer intern, Billy Eichenholz, the campers hung on T.O.'s every word. Rosenhaus then talked to them about the pros and cons of incentive-laden contracts and passed out a few cards.

Tomorrow, Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones, Michael Irvin and Olympic gold medalist Maurice Greene are scheduled to visit. I just tried to call Irvin, but his voice mail is full for the 216th consecutive day.

If your kid shows up early Thursday, I will be conducting a few blocking drills. Stay tuned for more details.

Skip it all, "pull a hammy" - we need those legs as fresh as possible in December and January. Same with Barber, wear Felix and Tashard slam out in Oxnard.
