San Diego coach Norv Turner barely had the chance to get the words hello out of his mouth before he was hit was the obvious question.

So, how much did he want the Cowboys head coaching job that went to Wade Phillips?

"A lot has happened since then,'' Turner said. "That really is a non-issue with me.

"Obviously, I was extremely interested. That's why I came in and talked to Jerry (Jones). It went to Wade and I thought they made a great selection.''

Turner was obviously familiar with Jones and the Cowboys since he was the team's offensive coordinator for two of its Super Bowl titles. He was a leading candidate and the last person interviewed.

Disappointed?

"Again, when you're in the middle of one of those things, I think you get a sense, a feel, for what's happening,'' Turner said. "I wasn't surprised. When you're not surprised, I think the disappointment is different.''

Phillips' defensive credentials and expertise in the 3-4 was one of the determining factors.

"Obviously, there were a lot of things that went into it,'' Turner said. "But honestly, I'm not going to answer any more questions about that. I prefer to talk about the game.''

Doubt it.

Tony Romo would be a better quarterback and the offense would be better.

I think we would have same OC.

we'd probably be worse off with Norval

Agreed. We don't have the raiders or chiefs to increase our odds of playoffs. Also Norv got a 13-3 team while Wade turned a team into a 13-3 team.

I think if we would not have been worse with Norv, we would not be any better.

As much as people want to call wade a cupcake or puppet coach, and I am not arguing that point, I think Norv would have been worse.

But that is just speculation on my part.

I really did not want either of them to be the HC. What I wanted was for one to be the OC and the other to be the DC and be under another HC.:D But that is water under the bridge.
