Pat Watkins won't make the team barring an injury to one of the safeties. No way, no how.

If I was making the final roster

OL - Adams, Kosier, Gurode, Davis, Colombo, Free, McQuistan, Holland, Gibbons

So, you'd go into the season without a backup center? Neither Holland nor Gibbons has shown enough ability to actually play this preseason.

Not a bad start, but Hodge at Safety??? Hodge is a linbacker, and with today's pass happy NFL you can't really convert that way. I have to think you were a little confused there.

I don't think Stewart makes it. Close, but with Hodge at LB, I don't see it.

Honestly I don't want either.

:laugh2:

Very understandable.

I'm just saying I'd take Keith Davis after week one between the two of them.

If we have to depend on Mickens starting this year for some reason we are so screwed.
I would put him on PS let him develop and after the first week sign a vet CB to a 1yr deal.
Who here really believes Newman and Jenkins don't miss time this season? They are both already hurt!

edit: Ball should go Safety and dump Watkins.
Killer is great for ST but at safety he was burned just like Roy was.

Stewart is great on ST and is also our backup LS.

I put Hodge at S, cause I had heard they were considering him for SS. Just leave him at LB and he can be our 9th backer.

I know we wouldn't want to move two players around if one starter goes down, but I've long thought Kyle Kosier's best spot is center.

When it comes to identifying responsibilities, he may be better at it than Andre Gurode, at worst it'd be a push. Kosier is very mobile and seems ideal to combo block before moving on to find another target in the second level.

But moving Kosier because of an injury to Gurode would disrupt continuity and give Flozell Adams reason to suck, which we don't need.

Keith Davis didn't necessarily do too much last season to justify bringing him back. Why not cut Watkins and keep a 10th OL?

There is alot more to C than just making the line calls. It is not a trivial thing to be able to snap the ball, and still get your block. I am not sure of Kosier can play center.

I vote for finding a punt returner that someone other teams cuts (maybe Roscoe Parrish and keep him over Pat Watkins.
