Picked up pieces through the first three practices

** For those of you wondering, the reason why some players trickle out on to the field during special teams' practice is because they don't take part in special teams. There's no reason for, say, Tony Romo or Roy Williams, to be on the field for punt coverage.

** Rookie tight end John Phillips knows how to make a team. He's not the most physically gifted guy but he doesn't make mistakes. He knows all three tight end spots and I saw him doing some long snapping before practice the other day.

** And how weird would this be? David Buehler as a holder. The kicker is working at being a holder, too. It makes some sense because if the Cowboys are keeping two kickers, then Buehler better do more than just kick off.

** While players would prefer to practice outside on grass, they are enjoying the set up at the Alamodome much better than in the past. Why? They don't have to live there all day. The Grand Hyatt, where the club is calling home, is where they meet, eat, get treatment (mostly) and sleep. Remember in 2003 when they brought cots to the dome for the players to sleep between practices?

** After seeing Mat McBriar punt inside the Alamodome I am more convinced that he will hit the digital board at Cowboys Stadium a ton this year. I know there's some directional kicking involved but he's hitting that thing this year.

** Igor Olshansky is a house. I saw two offensive linemen pulling on separate running plays collide with him and just crumble.

** At one point two pigeons were on the field yesterday behind secondary coach Dave Campo. Strange. And the invasion of the crickets has not happened yet.

No good.

It was a stupid idea to place the thing only 60 yards above the field in the first place.

It's enormous you dont need it that low.

He'll get plenty of opportunities to do just that when they practice at the new stadium, not to mention the two pre-season games. I'm assuming they can raise the videoboard if need be, right?

I'm surprised they haven't brought McBride into the Stadium to test the height out to see if it is too low. Then they could raise it before the regular season starts

Didnt Ray Guy do that in Astro or Super Dome?

I heard it was the Super Dome and that the video board was the same height as the one in Cowboys Stadium. But he hit it during warmups and he was trying to do it. Supposedly they did move that board up because he hit it.

from what i've read, they DID bring mcbriar in and asked him to punt it as high as he could and then they positioned it another 10 feet or so higher than that. obviously he won't punt as high as he can in most circumstances so we should be fine IMO. give jerry and the engineers a little credit to think it out...

I get the feeling it would a little harder to raise that monstrosity at Cowboys Stadium. Just a little.

Again with the scoreboard?

My thoughts exactly, but this shouldnt even be an issue.

We have one of if not the best punter in the game, and Jerry is so concerned with making a bad *** jumbotron, that he places it low enough to where it could possibly be hit by a punted ball?

The last thing I want is McBriar not kicking the best he can. If he has to think about not hitting the scoreboard, thats absolutely ridiculous.

Let the guy kick it as high and as far as he can.

Actually Bob, based on Mosely's blog yesterday one of them has to be "Mr. Holland Opus" since he seems to "roll around" a lot at pracitce.

It gets even weirder when he is also kicking on field goals he is holding for.

People in general are ignorant but they are only responding to the crap that is being fed to them by our illustrious media.

if you kick a ball 60 yards high you're not going to kick it very far, he can probably hit it if he tries to but no one punts straight up

If McBriar hits the Jumbotron at Cowboys Stadium with a game situation punt,,,, it was a bad punt and likely would not have gone more than 20 yards...

To put enough leg in a punt to get it that high, there would be almost no distance on the punt....

Think about,,, light bulbs will go off in your brain....
