Picked up pieces as training camp comes to a close this week ...

** For all of you that believe in the blue-jersey jinx, the Cowboys will not be in a blue jersey all year. They will have their throwbacks for Thanksgiving vs. New Orleans, but every game will be in their classic whites. Have to ask some of the long-time people around the team the last time this has happened.

** Chris Gronkowski has taken some turns as a deep snapper the last few days. John Phillips was L.P. Ladouceur's backup but he's out for the year with a knee injury. Defensive end Marcus Dixon has done it some. So has Patrick Crayton. Gronkowski needs some work on it but he did have good velocity on his snaps but the accuracy was off. Word has it Leonard Davis can do some long snapping, too.

** Cowboys worked on some silent-count snaps during Tuesday's practice in preparation for the crowd noise at Reliant Stadium. Having covered two preseason games there between the Cowboys and Texans (2004, '07), those Dallas teams were caught off guard by the emotion in the building.

I have never seen a year where they haven't worn them a couple of times.

There hasn't been one. This is an all time first.

Yeah, usually, Washington and Philadelphia make them do it just to be jerks.

So they've already determined what jerseys we're going to wear on the road the whole season? Didn't know the NFL made all home teams decide this far in advance. Wonder why we used to have to ask the question later in the year when we would play at WAS or PHI?

Must be a 50th anniversary thing. :laugh2:

When was the last time we wore white jersey in DC?

2001.

FWIW prior to Joe Gibbs, we always wore whites in DC. Maybe red jerseys at home is a Bruce Allen thing.

Man, I'm bummed. I love those uniforms. I don't buy into the 'jinx' at all.

Guess this comes with celebrating you know what.:star:

Same here. The blues are my second favorite to the throwbacks. The same uni all year is a pretty boring decision. If the blues are that frowned upon by the organization, then just get rid of them and make the Throwbacks the other uni.

When we are on the road we don't choose our uniforms.

We traditionally wear the whites at home, so therefore....

I wonder how we were able to pull that off this year for our road games?

At home we get to choose our unis though, right? Why not choose the blues or throwbacks a couple times there instead then if we're going to be wearing the whites even on every away game?

All this is determined before the season. It is usually not reported or reported in a little blurb somewhere like it is no big deal.

1977 was the closest we came to never wearing the blues. I "think" we only wore them at St. Louis that year.

Why choose the blues for a home game when the whites are the official home jerseys? And they are going to wear the throwbacks for the Thanksgiving home game.

The Commanders usually make us wear blue when we play them on the road.

Surprised they are not this time.
