Romancing Tony Romo more focused on football

Count fellow captain Bradie James among the crowd that saw Tony Romo's birthday eve dumping of Jessica Simpson as a sign that No. 9 is more focused on football.

"Well, one thing is he broke up with his girlfriend," James said during an interview on a Toronto radio station when asked whether Romo is ready to put distractions aside and focus on leading the Cowboys back to the playoffs. "So I guess he's trying to focus."

James apparently had second thoughts about throwing Jessica under the bus, because he did add this: "I'm not saying that she was distracting him because they came to my wedding."

OK.

At any rate, if you believe the gossip blogosphere, Romo has hooked up with a more football-friendly blonde. He's supposedly dating the daughter of the Eastern Illinois athletic director.

And, starting tomorrow, this here blog will try to focus on football.

Yeah, I know blogs have a lower standard than print media, but come on. This gossipy crap site apparently isn't even sure if the story is true. They don't even know for sure which girl it is.

Don't we have *any* standards anymore?

And this is forgetting the entire fact that who he dates in his private life -- when she isn't a celebrity -- is none of our business anyway.

So let me get this straight, if Romo is dating someone successful--whose success exceeds his own--then she is a Yoko Ono-level distraction that is going to ruin everything. But if he dates a run of the mill nobody, then that girl is only trying to use Tony and is a gold-digger.
