Romo misses cut despite finding rhythm on back side

Tony Romo played in a U.S. Open local qualifying event today and finished nine over par. He missed the cut, in part because preparing for his day job of quarterbacking the Cowboys cut into his practice time.

"I hadn't played golf in a week or so," Romo said in a clip played on ESPN. "I played nine holes last week, and tried to get in game shape, but obviously that wasn't enough. It comes and goes.

"Well, I didn't make the next round. You come out here and try to advance. I found a good rhythm on back side, but it just took too long to get started. I just haven't been able to practice or prepare. I got a lot of football stuff. So that's part of it."

Todd Archer, our man on the scene, will have in-depth analysis of Romo's golf game later

Dating Jessica, I'm sure he's found plenty of rhythm on the backside :D . Wait! Nobody tell the Cowboys I made a Jessica joke or they might yell at me!

Romo misses cut

Just got back from The Golf Club of Dallas where Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was trying to advance in a U.S. Open local qualifier. Bad news for Tony. He shot 75, although he made some impressive shots on the back nine.

Romo needed a 71 on the par 70. Apparently football is getting in the way of his dazzling golf game. He said he played only nine holes in the last week and wasn't prepared enough. He has plenty of golf ahead though in the Colonial Pro Am on May 21 and another U.S. Open qualifier at Torrey Pines in June. He had to rush off after his round to get back to Valley Ranch....and back to his real job.
