Romo's anniversary
Tomorrow's the anniversary of Drew Bledsoe's benching, and Tony Romo's ascension to the first string.
A key in how he's handled it? Humility. Today, Romo said that since becoming No. 1, he's looked at himself simply as the starting quarterback of the Cowboys, rather as worrying about being the Starting Quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys and an heir to throne of Aikman and Staubach.
"I treat it as I’m lucky and blessed to do something I love and enjoy to do in life," said Romo. "But as far as it being taken away, I’d still be happy being an assistant club pro back in Burlington, Wisc.
"It’s a neat thing, it’s really special to be a part of, but I don’t look at it in the third person, or look at it from afar and say, ‘Wow, this is really exciting, all this stuff that’s happening.’ It’s hard to explain. It just seems normal."
'Course, Romo was pressed to see if he'd really be as satisfied as a golf instructor in Wisconsin. He laughed and conceded: "I’d probably rather be here."
