Romo's competition

Don't worry. This post has nothing to do with Brad Johnson.

It's about the field at the Tahoe Celebrity Golf Tournament, which Romo will play in next month. He said recently that he has "no chance" of winning, but last season's champ is some spare soap opera actor named Jack Wagner.

Three ex-Cowboys will be among Romo's competitors: Emmitt Smith, Steve Beuerlein and Vinny Testaverde. Other folks in the field with local ties are Woodrow Wilson High's Tim Brown, ex-Maverick Jason Kidd, ex-Star Brett Hull and TCU-ex LaDainian Tomlinson.

Will give Romo and Vinny time to shoot the breeze. Maybe there still some tidbits that Vinny can still teach Romo.

I would love to be in a golf 4-some with Emmitt, LaDanian, and Tony Romo.

When Romo says he has no chance, idiots like MacMahon should either take his word for it or do a little research before implying he does.

There's about a dozen golfers in the field that are better players than Romo and most are retired athletes or actors who can play six or seven days a week.

I have enjoyed watching this tournament over the years and look forward to seeing Romo in the field this year. I have played this course 3 times and it is fun and difficult course to play.

Romo is a scratch golfer. He routeinly goes under 70, so how certain can you be of that statement? I will conceed the fact that he hasn't played much recently won't exactly help the cause, but to say that there are a dozen better... that's probably a stretch.

If he routinely shot under 70, he wouldnt be a scratch golfer.

A handicap isn't an average score.

Ahh, sorry lack of sleep, and over exposure to heat, tends to rob me of my comprehensive ability to add words that people forget.

And yes im being serious, before anyone starts whining. (I know you won't vintage ;) )

When you look at the history of this tournament, there are two types of players - people like Charles Barkley who is an actual celebrity who happens to play golf so he shows up every year and people like Rick Rhoden, Al Del Greco, Jack Wagner or Billy Jo Tolliver who are very, very good golfers who happen to have just enough "celebrity" to get the invite.

The Stableford scoring makes the average person not understand how good some of these players really are.

Crap.

You had the word 'golf' inserted there.

I had a witty response.

Rendered useless.

Wagner played on a golf scholarship at Arizona State. The guy can play.

Not only that, but it's kind of a disservice to call him a "spare" as an actor.

Wagner was a fixture on Melrose Place for years.
