Roy Williams told Wade Phillips the other night that he could have played if Saturday's game counted in the standings.
Williams declined to elaborate in the locker room today. He didn't want to discuss his bruised left shoulder, which was wrapped with an electrical stimulation unit, or whether he would practice this afternoon.
"I ain't got nothing to say," Williams said.
He also declined to comment about the two shiny gold, plastic championship belts he was unwrapping while standing at his locker. I'll continue to monitor that story. Not sure why last year's Tonk and Spades championship belts needed to be replaced.
We'll also let you know whether we see Williams on the practice field this afternoon.
Fellow injured receiver Sam Hurd (sore quadriceps) was happy to discuss his situation with the media. He'll run today and expects to practice this week, although Phillips said that it's unlikely that Hurd will play in Friday's preseason finale.
"I feel great," Hurd said. "I feel better than good."
