If anyone needed further proof that the Dallas Cowboys truly are America's Team, take a look at Roy E. Williams.

The guy spends 4.5 years in Detroit as a solid (and sometimes very good) receiver, and he's easily able to avoid excessive media attention/criticism.

So after a forgettable 10 games trying to fit in on the fly with the Cowboys, he is now being installed as the #1 WR... and just look at how much attention/criticism Roy has received. More than he ever received in his entire career as a Detroit Lion.

Oh, and it's not even July yet.

He used to be thought of as "the other Roy Williams" back when he was a Lion and Roy the safety was a Cowboy... notice how it seems like those roles are now reversed?

:hammer:

Yep! He's the slow dude from TX that runs bad routes! The same guy that high jumped 6'10" in HS....The same guy that kicked out butts that low Dec./Jan day a couple of years ago. I can't wait until the media eats crow. Him and Romo are going to have a ball!

Romo and him havn't gotten on the same page because Romo's not use to throwing the ball in the general area....he's use to throwing the perfect ball....and then his receivers drop it, or don't try to play DB and not fight for it...with the exception of Witten.

I'm stoked to see him play this year......BTW....I'm not a UT fan...just a fan of him!

ain't it the truth
Seriously, I'm sure the thought never even crossed his mind to look into it before he ran the "rumor" -- that he might possibly want to call the player's agent or publicist or double check it any way whatsoever.

He is definitely a Cowboy now!

BTW - anyone reporting RW is 6'3" is using "second hand" info. He is under 6'2" - 6' 1&7/8" to be exact... :)

Roy Williams refuted highly respected NFL scribe Peter King's report that the coachable wide receiver was never on a consistent weight program until this off-season.
I questioned the validity of Kings statement the moment I read it.

Part of the reason was because we are talking about Peter King.

What kind of crap is that? He has officially enter Mosely-ville.

And to become the mayor of Moselyville you need to lip read your sources information, from roughly 50 yards away.

what is funny is that so many people believe every little piece of **** that some media hack throws against the wall.

If it's in an article, it must be true right? ridiculous

What's even funnier is that they'll point out how 'well respected' these journalists are. Then you ask 'who are they well respected by?' Of course, you don't really get an answer because the answer is that they are well respected by other journalists.

It's like a cat burgular who is well respected by other cat burgulars.

I like RW and glad he is with us but the only way to silence the critics is to produce for the Cowboys. His numbers do not have to be equal to Owens he just has to help this team advance through the playoffs something this team has not done in a while. If RW can help in that then this trade was well worth it.

No one will ever understand how thankful I am for that.

No but there will be some here who think you're an absolute hater and don't know a thing because, if you were paying attention, TO never makes mistakes. Nothing that ever goes wrong, or doesn't work, on a football team is his fault. It's always someone elses.

He's not Terrell Eldorado Owens.
I told my wife that that was his middle name, at first she didn't believe me, but once I showed her visual evidence the first thing she said was; "did his mother want to always remember where he was conceived or something?"

Roy....welcome to the limelight.....the circus that surrounds the Dallas Cowboys.

Its best to keep your mouth shut.....work hard....produce and the critics will silence.....if not.....you will enter in the TO world.

There are already mediots out there who have pegged you as a lazy, overrated whiner.....prove them wrong....

Pressure bursts pipes but it also makes diamonds. I've been one of the critical person of Roy Williams, but I would gladly eat an enormous plate of crow if he steps up and has a big season for us.

there are probably plenty of players that avoid weights throughout the season to avoid injury in the weight room or to ensure their muscles hold up throughout a season of pounding.

we used to do it when I played - lift hard in the off-season to bulk up and get strong, then play football. Nothing sucks more than tearing, pulling, or straining something trying to bench press during the season and being done for the year.

It's also difficult to lift during the season as well. More often than not, you're nursing small, nagging injuries and bumps and bruises during the season, making heavy lifting impratical.

I can tell you from personal experience that there isn't much lifting done during the season anyway, healthy or not.

There is very little. The lifting that is done is usually lower weight than usual, with a focus on reps to stay in shape and maintain current strength. All the heavy muscle building lifting isnt done till the offseason in just about any sport.

We used to lift during the season, but it was scaled back as far as the intensity and duration. It was also done twice a week (Monday and Wednesday) during the season as opposed to three times a week during the offseason.

Of course, I played at a 1-AA school in the mid 80's, so I'm sure strength programs have changed over the years.

Also, most of the guys really hitting the weights during the season didn't play too much in the games.
