Safety Roy Williams, who hasn't talked to the media in months, broke his silence by sitting down for an interview with NBC 5's Newy Scruggs.
Newy gave me a briefing about the interview, which will air during Out of Bounds (10:30 p.m. Sunday). Here are some of the highlights:

*Williams believes he's a better fit for a 4-3 scheme than a 3-4, which happens to be what the Cowboys use.
*Williams thinks the Cowboys miss the firm hand of Bill Parcells.
*He's willing to move to linebacker if that's what the Cowboys want him to do.
*Williams thinks too many Cowboys talk too much.
*He believes that T.O. creates distractions by consistently being in the middle of controversies.

I hope he breaks #81 ankle again before he leaves.

Not really, he doesn't say a whole lot to the media.
Except that he's in the wrong scheme, that current coaching is a problem, and TO is a distraction.

He was always pointing the finger at someone else after he got burned so this doesn't surprise me that "it's the scheme's fault."

I'm surprised he said that about TO. They are, or were, good friends.

The 34/43 part is stupid, though. This defense should be perfect for him.

What does Roy Williams know? He's only in the locker room. Who does he think he is? Ed Werder? ;) :laugh2:

I'm no scheme expert but I've coached a little football. I can't figure out how a 4-3 or 3-4 has any different effect on the strong safety position. ????

Where is the actual interview? All I see is paraphrasing.

For all we know, 90% of what Roy said could've been about how he thinks Owens is a great teammate, and that he only "creates distractions" in that he's involved in so many alleged controversies.

This is Tim MacMahon we're talking about, here.

Since we cant run it in our youth league , I have no coaching experience with it.

We have to run a 5-2. But who knows, maybe there is a greater difference between the two.

Only major difference I can see , is having more space to cover if you play with a DC like Wade who would send 2 LB's all the time.

Its more space for Roy to get served.

The last thing Roy needs is more space. Sending 2 linebackers in a 3-4 is like blitziing 1 linebacker in the 4-3. DeMarcus Ware (although he occasionally drops back) is basically a pass-rushing end.

I guess the 3-4 is more likely to rush both OLB's meaning 2 ILB's covering the middle, which means Roy has more area. But you can also argue that more pressure on QB's helps the coverage.

Troy Polamalu seems to do just fine as a SS in a 3-4.

This is like the 10th player to openly admit the Cowboys have a lockerroom problem, yet you have posters in a different thread going right now saying that there isn't one. :laugh2:

Actually he didn't say there were "lockerroom [sic] problems." He said that TO creates distractions because of the controversies. We all know that there are distractions, but the question is whether TO creates them himself and whether his positives outweigh that.

Finally, a Cowboy player goes on the record to tell us that TO is a turd. That should shut up the shills .. for about five seconds.

Didn't even mention TO.

But between his comments about TO and his comments about other players, he's clearly stating this team has a big problem off the field.

So does he create them or is he in the middle of them?
