That's the opposite of how we used to win when Garrett was a player. We'd jump up early and wear them down late with Emmitt Smith. Running early is great only if you are able to build up points. I have a feeling he will run more, but not in this manner. This would only work if we have a smothering defense.

I agree. I think we'll sprinkle the runs in, as they should be, with passing to get a lead and then they'll run the ball more and more the better our lead. The deeper we get into games the more we'll run it as well to continue to beat on a defense that is wearing down.

I'd think our RB talent would be first in the NFC east.

I disagree. Some of Barber's most memorable runs have come when the o-line missed assignments. Felix was great at Arkansas, even though their line wasn't blowing people off the ball. Choice had a good season even though he was thrust into starting and the line wasn't that great.

The o-line doesn't have to be any better than they've ever been before. Flo's always been a good run blocker. Columbo is adequate and Gurode and Davis are above average. If they can get somebody that's even just adequate in at LG (which Kosier has been able to do when healthy) they should be in good shape. MB3 has the ability to break tackles and Felix has the ability to make people miss tackles. The line only has to be slightly above average to make this thing work.

Make no mistake though, the passing game is still going to be vital. I expect to see Felix very involved in the passing game, and more short passes to backs and TE's.

You can use a short passing game as a running game, and there are times that our offensive line does not run block well. When that happens I expect that instead of banging our head against a wall we will come out using the short passing game.

We need to shoot for a 45-55 or even 50-50 split, imo. You can't run with 8-9 guys in the box...so the passing game must succeed.

Still not going to buy into any hype either negative or positive. This team will just have to show me on the field.
