** Here's something from Duane Thomas I didn't use in today's story: I asked him how good he would be today: "How good?" he repeated. "I'd be beyond good." By the way, you can check out some of Thomas' painting at www.withduanethomas.com.
** So the linebackers do this drill where they weave between the tall bags and attempt not to make contact with them. We're talking a 18-inch separation between the bags and LB coach Reggie Herring saying, "Tight belly button, turn the toe, slip the hips." No LB goes through smoother than DeMarcus Ware.
** Note to self - spend some time looking at the young O-linemen today. When I have noticed Doug Free, it hasn't been good for him, but I'll admit I haven't looked that much.
** I used to cover the Dolphins back in the day, and Zach Thomas definitely looks thicker than I remember. He told me during the off-season that his work with Joe Juraszek has added some bulk but not sapped quickness. For those wondering about the effects of a concussion, his first day of full-contact went fine.
** S Dowayne Davis is intriguing. He struggled big-time in the first rookie mini-camp back in May. We're talking struggling, but there might be something there. He looks much smoother and athletic. He had an interception Saturday.
** I've been around here since Tony Romo has been around here. To see what he's become - not as a player mind you but just the popularity - is amazing. Fans pushed against the fence so hard when he signed autographs that the security team had to push back against the fence so it wouldn't collapse.
** Another note to self - watch Isaiah Stanback more. He's had a couple of drops the first two days. He needs to fight for the ball more, too.
