For some strange reason, Commanders CB Shawn Springs decided to publicly challenge T.O. As if the Original 81 didn't have enough motivation coming off a two-catch, 17-yard game.

"I have a track meet Sunday," Springs told the Washington Times. "I can't wait to see it. Me and Terrell 'Usain Bolt' Owens. I'm excited for it. He better be ready."

Not sure it's wise to talk trash to a receiver who torched the Commanders for 173 yards and four TDs at Texas Stadium last season. T.O. did a bunch of that damage to the middle of Washington's Cover 2 zone, but I'm sure the Cowboys would love to see Springs try to stick T.O. without any help.

Ron's son and T.O. have some history. Springs did a solid job vs. T.O. in their first three 49ers-Seahawks meetings, but T.O. got loose for two TDs during a Monday night game in 2002, famously celebrating the second one by pulling a Sharpie out of his sock to sign the football.

"That didn't bother me," Springs told the Times. "I was talking so much trash to him [before the touchdown]."

Springs might be saying the same thing Sunday.

Bring it on!

I'd LOVE IT if they tried to lock Springs up on him One on One. I'll take that match up all day long.

if you read the times article though the comment is harmless.

He basically complimented owens more than insulted...

but I dont expect much different from mcmahon.

You left out Leotis Brown.

Springs is a solid corner in this league...

He is basically a bigger, more physical, more injury prone Anthony Henry.

Its seems like even when he was in Seatlle that he always has a hamstring injury. He was a stud at Ohio State and should be a good matchup.

But with all that said... I hope they dont play Cover 2 man and just iso Spings on TO....

It will be more TD's for TO.

They don't have the Guts to do that!. What a mismatch!.

What good can come about by even the slightest innuendo of trash talk by Springs? Does TO need additonal motivation?

I've got a funny feeling that TO will have a monster day against the Commanders.

Go ahead and double TO and Witten if you'd like. I'd love to see Austin get loose in that secondary some more, and Barber and Felix run through them like wet paper.

Get with the system... we live in a word where "in context" is taboo.

Honorable mentions: Sensationalism, Bias, Factless statements etc.... :D

Shawn Springs you're a shell of your former self give it up no one cares about you just reside in DC with that sad excuse of a football team.

I love it. Pretty good Springs. You better lace those spikes up tight. So I guess Miles Austin is Asafa Powell

I have always liked and respected Shawn Springs, and even if the actual comments are much less inflammatory it really shouldn't matter. The last guy in the world you should have a comment about is the guy who schooled you like Owens did to him last year.
