Skipping OTAs wasn't an option for DeMarcus Ware

It's a fairly common practice for NFL player in the midst of contract negotiations to skip "voluntary" workouts.

Pro Bowl OLB DeMarcus Ware said he never considered it for a second.

Ware, unlike his Twitter impostor, has been pretty tight-lipped about the negotiations that could end with him getting the most guaranteed money in NFL history. He said after today's workout that he'll let his agent and Cowboys management worry about that, while he focuses on football.

Focusing on football means full participation in the Cowboys' off-season program. His presence at OTAs is indicative of his commitment, not necessarily that he's pleased with the progress on his contract negotiations.

"I'm a guy that's always been about hard work," Ware said. "That's what got me where I am right now. Why would you take some days off to jeopardize the team? If you want to be a team player, that's how you've got to do it. Sometimes you've got to sacrifice, and that's what I'm doing now."

My favorite player.

Quite an accomplishment. He had to climb over Folk, McBriar, and Buehler for that honor

Ware is just flat out awesome. He's not just a great player but he's a great person to go with it. I'm so glad this guy is on our team.

If it weren't for Jason Witten being on our team he'd be my favorite current player.

Some players wish to be seen by others as an example of a great team player.

Other players take it upon themselves to set an example of what it means to be a great team player.

I'm glad Ware belongs with the latter group instead of the former.

I can think of four NFCE left tackles that probably don't. ;)
Nah, didn't ya hear? Jason Peters will shut him down on the way to the Eagles winning the NFC.

That's the realist persepctive I've been told.

lol, ya I love that too..Peters will shut him down!!..oh wait..Ware had 1.5 sacks 2 years ago when he played the Bills. Ware will toss Peters around like a ragdoll. I've yet to see any RT/LT than can dominate Ware.

Oh noes! Lmao..nah, I didn't hear that. I haven't been frequenting Eagles forums, and my ignore list covers the 8-10 knuckleheads on this forum that would say something like that.

I'm a super-homer/idiot, you know...:D

Just wait for the game thread when Peters holds Ware to no sacks in a couple series.

Is there anybody that doesn't love this guy?

Well, he's under contract, so naturally he showed up for work. That's praiseworthy? If so, the bar has certainly been lowered around here.

I know, but afaik, he's never skipped one before.

A lot of players do though. I know many here would like to have Boldin but he is not exactly getting involved with the Cards off season program yet is still under a contract. I like the fact that Ware has put this on the shoulders of his agent and the franchise to hammer this out in the meantime he is just going about his normal business of getting ready.

It's just one piece of the puzzle. That's why there's no laudatory praise for Stanback's attendance. We factor in production and work ethic.
