Spears lays down law of physics
DE Marcus Spears, who looked mighty quick against the Broncos, has done everything in his power to make sure he backs up his claims that Bill Parcells' scheme held him back.
Spears weighs 304 after dropping six pounds in the off-season. Not sure how much of that weight was hair, but he's now sporting a Mohawk. It's faded from the top to the side, but the no-guard look on the sides gives him a tremendous aerodynamic advantage.
"That hair gives you that parachute effect," said Spears, who took an Evolution of Physics class at LSU. "It pulls you back."
I tried explaining this scientific phenomenon to first-round pick Anthony Spencer, who has let his Mohawk morph into a Frohawk. Spencer nodded politely, but the hair of the sides of his head is bushier than ever. No surprise that he doesn't have a sack yet.
"I'll talk to him," Spears said. "It'll mean more coming from me."
