Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones said one of the reasons he liked Stephen McGee entering the draft was some "nine-ish" qualities the Aggie displayed in College Station.
In other words, the ability to make plays on the move, make something happen when things break down.
McGee was appreciative of the words from Jones, but understands there is a ton of work to be done.
"He's one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, so that's about as good a compliment as I can get," McGee said. "I don't think I'm close to anything that resembles No. 9 right now. I've got a long way to go, a lot of offense to learn. I'm excited to be learning from a guy like Tony Romo. It doesn't get any better than that, and a guy like Jon Kitna, a guy who's played 14 years, that's pretty awesome."
McGee will get a chance for the work this weekend, splitting the QB snaps with Rudy Carpenter. He showed a strong arm in the morning workout, but maybe too strong on the shorter routes.
What's the one thing he learned from Wade Wilson Friday morning?
"Just being quick and fast," McGee said. "There's different drops for different plays. It could be a five-step drop, but there's a big five and a quick five. There's different things you have to learn and he said that's the hardest part of learning the offense with different drops associated with different plays and how quick you have to be with the different routes they're running."
