Since somebody on here asked about the Cowboys' chances of selecting a player in Thursday's Supplemental draft, here goes: I don't see it happening.

The best player is Georgia cornerback Paul Oliver, who did an excellent job on Georgia Tech's Calvin Johnson when they played. But Oliver doesn't have much speed and is considered a Cover-2 corner, so that should knock him out of the Cowboys' mix because they want quickness and speed in their corners.

The next-best player is considered Maryland's Jared Gaither. He is enormous (6-8, 324) and flashed some skill in his time on the field. But there are some questions off the field about him that might shy away some teams. I'm not even sure the Cowboys had a representative at his workout on Monday. And then there's this: they just drafted James Marten and Doug Free in the third and fourth rounds of the April draft, so why draft another tackle?

The other players eligible, largely, are either wannabes or never weres.

eduncan, upon hearing this news, has locked himself in the closet and won't come out.

Where's R Kelly when you need him?

I'm pretty sure Marten has played guard before, not sure about Free.

I'd look at Gaither because he is a tremendous talent.

You have to send someone for at least a look. Sure we just drafted two guys and have a nice looking 2nd year guy - but you have to look. If he can be a dominant player why not drop a 6th or 7th if he's there?

I don't care what the scheme, speed etc....if you do anything excellect with Johnson then you are pretty good.

Personally I think Paul Oliver is going to be good in what ever scheme you put him in.

Does anyone know what off the field questions that Gaither has?

Well, I know that there were some issues with his grades while at Maryland. I don't specifically know of more then that.

Gaither basically flunked out of college:eek:

He is 6-9 though, and his arms are about as long as an Airbus A-380's wings;)

I read somewhere that he was suspended for violating some team rule early in his career at Maryland. Then I read where Maryland's coach was talking about his high character. If he did have any problems besides grades, he must have learned his lesson.

I would love to have the guy if we could get him for a 2nd or 3rd. Most early mocks I've seen had him going pretty high in the 1st round in next years draft.

But, then again, Wade and Jerry may be satisfied with going into the season with our line as it is.
