NT Tank Johnson was in meetings this morning and will attend his first practice here in a few minutes.

But the fact that he's still 23 days from being eligible to play -- his suspension from game action runs until the Nov. 11 Giants game in Jersey -- means the newest Cowboy will be relegated to the scout team for now. Coach Wade Phillips said that the priority until the New York game will be getting the guys who will play ready to do so.

"We've got to get other guys ready to play the game, whoever that may be," Phillips said. "It's more important that we get them ready to play this game."

I don't know why Wade wouldn't want additional help on the inside....he has been saying the NT position is, to him, the most important position in his 3-4....i just think he has bigger fish to fry right now...and means no disrespect...

I totally agree. Wade's mind is focused on the upcoming game (as it should be) and can't be concerned about fitting in a player who won't actually play for at least 3-4 weeks. Right now, Priority 1 is the Minnesota Vikings!

That just sounds like a long time from now.

Wade has the bye week to acclimate Johnson to the defense. Right now, Tank needs to develop some football conditioning.

guys like wilfork don't come around too often.we will have fergy back next year along with tank so we should be ok at nt.the big thing for tank is to get into shape so this is fine for him. and working against gurode should work well to get him into shape

Red Bryant, Frank Okam, Jason Shirley.

B.J. Raji would have been a nice option, but he's apparently not very smart (academically ineligible). I suppose he still might come out if he can't get his grades in order.

Two year deal for close to minimum, with lots of incentives, and maybe a roster bonus. We have him next year as well....

No need. Ferguson will be back and we'll have Ratliff and Tank. With the Tank signing, Ratliff turning out to be a pretty good NT, and Ferguson getting healthy in the off-season, depth at NT won't be an issue. We don't play NE's style of 3-4 so we don't need a Wilfork.

He must not want Oliver Hoyte either (eventhough he had every opportunity to cut him at the end of training camp).

Hoyte has been running scout team too.

The absolute best one (IMO) is Glenn Dorsey from LSU.

But I know people here are superstitious about LSU now.
