DMN Blog: Tashard Choice doesn't want to leave Cowboys

Felix Jones plays better when Tashard Choice is playing, it's not as big of a change of speed as Jones/Barber, but watch Felix Jones' biggest games this year, Tashard got some carries. I could be wrong, but I think it's something I remember noticing. Point it out if that's incorrect.

Yeah it's called stiff competition. Felix has to step it up when Choice plays because those footsteps he's hearing aren't coming from a lb...;)

It would be probably one of the three dumbest moves made by this francise in the past 10 years to trade Choice.

Right up there with the Joey Galloway trade and the Quincy Carter draft pick.

Wow! This thread is a bit of an overreaction. Is choice good enough to be our feature back? I know how message board fans love the underdog (ogletree type), but lets be realistic. Choice is at best going to be a number 2 back on this team. He isnt special in any way. He is pretty quick, he is pretty fast, he is pretty productive in a pretty limited role. Could he be a special franchise back? I dont see it. I just cant see choice being mentioned with Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson.

A question for some of the Choice ballriders out their. If dallas had to trade either Choice or Felix Jones who do you pick to be traded?.....and no not barber..... Jones or Choice?

While I understand what you're trying to do with that last question, You're missing the point. I think most in this thread would agree that if we got rid of a RB, it should be Barber rather than choice.

I don't recall anyone saying he should be the featured back. That's Felix's role.

Read the thread again. People wouldnt trade choice for anyone that isnt on the all pro/hall of fame potential players. Someone is asking for a 1st and a 3rd. My question is perfectly legit because if you wouldnt even rank Choice as the best back on the team then you shouldnt be putting such a value on a player you only want as a change of pace back. Choice is a good part time back. But he is replaceable. Anyone who is only going to be getting 5-10 carries per game is replaceable.

when barber and jones were both hurt last year he played several games as the featured back and did not share carries and excelled at running, pass blocking and catching. I guess you missed the latter half of last year.

have to love this kid, it is a luxury to have all but at some point your not going to have all 3

There is no team that would give that much for MBIII including the Raiders.

This seems like a no brainer to me.

Start Felix and Choice.
Close game with alot of Barber.

We have the perfect triple combination and we dont use it correctly.

If we keep him, which I certainly hope that we do, he HAS to be utilized more than he was. Roster spots are precious commodities on game day and it's a disservice to him and the team to have him just standing there on the sidelines.

I wouldn't trade Choice.

Felix Jones is the man, imo.

At least, he should be.

However, there are some carries for Choice, imo.

Choice has heart, and he is an emotional leader.

He's a good running back, and he's proven that, imo.

Yea i guess these couple of games last year where he played pretty good is enough to say not to trade him unless someone offered you an amazing Revis type of player. Choice isnt even as proven as a player like Chester Taylor. Choice is our 3rd back. In fact McCoy from the eagles is a more proven player than Choice. I like choice and would like to see what happens with him. However, i am realistic and know that if a stud player was offered to us for him i would understand dallas moving him. He wont be happy as a 3rd or 2nd back. He thinks he should start and will move on eventually anyway. If a starting offensive lineman was offered i wouldnt be able to say no because i want to hold on to my 3rd back.

Choice is competent when he is in the game. But special? Not seeing that at this point and probably wont.

I agree.

And I know we can't just lean on the running game every week and always have enough carries for three deserving running backs.

But halfback is the biggest strength on the team and Jason Garrett needs to do all he can to keep Felix Jones, Marion Barber and Tashard Choice involved every week.

Simple solution is the release Barber and keep Choice.

That may not be a solution if choice thinks he should be "the man". I dont know whats in his mind but he may leave anyway because he gets lured away with a bigger contract.

What is a better solution for us cowboy fans is to accept that choice will either leave or stay because he isnt as good as some people here think he is and he realizes he should be happy as a part time player. We have 3 good back and the one we are talking about is number 3.
