As the offseason enters its middle stages we ask: What were the Cowboys' best offseason decisions?

Trading for Pacman Jones. The Cowboys gave up a fourth-round pick and no guaranteed money for the top-flight cornerback.

Re-signing Flozell Adams. Flo Adams is considered one of the top left tackles in the game and the Cowboys kept him from the open market with a long-term deal.

Signing Zach Thomas. The veteran inside linebacker is a heavy tackler who's impressed his teammates with speed and smarts.

Long-term deals for Terrell Owens and Marion Barber. Jerry Jones has been looking for a franchise running back almost as long as he's been seeking a franchise quarterback. He's got one now in Barber. T.O. might be 35 when the season ends, but he's taken care of financially.

Keeping Jason Garrett. Baltimore and Atlanta wanted to hire "Red" as a head coach. But Jerry Jones put up the big money to keep his offensive coordinator and he even gave Garrett a promotion of sorts. Assistant Head Coach.

Feel free to add you're own.

To me the biggest move is keeping Jason Garrett because he most likely will be the Cowboys' next head coach, whenever Wade Phillips decides to leave or is fired, whichever comes first. Garrett is also well-liked by Tony Romo and respected by the assistant coaches.

I dont know if I see Thomas as a great signing. Good guy to have in the locker room, but you dont want to mess with concussions.

Jerry NOT giving into temptation and trading the farm for McFadden.

The trade-up for Mike Jenkins.

Hudson Houck brought back as OL coach.

Dave Campo brought back as secondary coach.

I like most of Jerry moves in the offseason and upon reflection the draft was pretty good but I remained very concerned about the WR position.

To me this one was HUGE! :starspin

So many people here were pushing for it to happen and it was the wrong move to make.

Isn't it silly to be rating the offseason moves before the first game or even the first real practice? It's like rating the draft before the guys even show up to sign the contract.

Then again when there's nothing at all to report, these guys have to fill space with something.

Dont forget the other 2 coaches that we signed,

DL coach from the Browns, he knows them inside and out, and we play them the first ball game.

Then, the linebacker coach, that coached with the bengals.

Yes, this was the best offseason on trades, free agent signing and drafting.

Dont forget in the 2nd round, Jerry Jones wanted to trade up for Bennett or Hardy, Hardy went earlier, then Jerry wanted to trade up for Bennett TE from A & M.

His staff, scouting department told hm no, so Jerry got outvoted, so Jerry stayed where he was.

Then later, dont forget Jerry traded down after they couldnt get the OT OG Collins, his name was mentioned several times after draft talks.

Then, Jerry traded picks down, and got an extra 3rd and an extra 4th pick.

So, all of everything everyone mentioned,
T O, Barber, Newman, Thomas, Jenkins, Adam Jones, Campo, Houck, DL coach, Lb coach, extra 3rd and 4th picks.
