The Cowboys have signed nose tackle Remi Ayodele to their 53-man roster Tuesday and placed Jason Ferguson on injured reserve.
Ferguson suffered a torn right biceps in Sunday's season opener vs. the New York Giants and will have surgery on Friday. Ayodele, the younger brother of linebacker Akin, was among the Cowboys' final cuts coming out of training camp.
The Cowboys hoped to put him on the practice squad, but he was claimed by Atlanta. The Falcons released Ayodele over the weekend, giving the Cowboys a chance to re-sign Ayodele.
Ayodele, 6-2, 300, spent the spring playing in NFL Europa. He spent part of last year on the Cowboys' practice squad before he was released.

Not a surprise, as we all pretty much expected this once we heard about Ferguson.

I liked Ayodele in preseason, and hope he does well with his playing time. I was actually kinda surprised when he was cut originally, b/c i thought he did really well when he played in preseason.

Hopefully that carries over into the games now.

Best news I've heard all week!

Don't get me wrong-yes, I'm a homer, but as big of a blow Fergy's injury is, we probably need alot of youth in the middle anyways.

Hopefully, Remi will balance with Jay in the middle nicely.

I'm going to be a glass-half-full kind of guy and say that i think this is a pretty solid move. Remi actually impressed me this preseason. I know that's not the same as the real deal on Sundays, but he does clog up the middle.

NTs are hard to find, but it's not exactly like they are always high round draft picks. What you really need is someone who can stop the run and hold up. I think a combination of Remi and Ratliff can do that. We'll see. Still, it's a no risk signing that should make Jay's life a little easier.

Agree. I was surprised Remi was cut because I thought we needed him as Ferguson's backup and I'd rather see Ratliff as a pass rushing DE. Remi should be able to help out a lot by giving Ratliff a breather. And who knows what happens down the road.

It's some good fortune that Atlanta released him and that he's available to us. He knows our system and shouldn't need much time to catch up.

Remi to spell Ratliff, sounds like a plan that I can I can live with.
Ferguson was good but not irreplaceable, Ratliff may well be the future anyhow.
