The statue of Tom Landry was put in its new place this morning.

The big bronzed figure of the legendary longtime Cowboys coach will greet folks at Gate A at the new stadium.

The placing of the statue is first of a series of events that will get JerryWorld ready for its regular-season opening. There will be a blue star at midfield when the Giants arrive in Arlington. The Ring of Honor will also be unveiled this week.

I would really like to see Witten get that honor and not some giant's player. We'd never hear the end of it.

Tom Landry Statue Placed At Cowboys Stadium

After vowing to save some of the bells and whistles of Cowboys Stadium until its regular season debut, the club is getting to the business of that today, with the placement of the Tom Landry statue from Texas Stadium on the site.

The full-bodied bronze likeness of the former Cowboys head coach, trademark fedora and all, will be placed at Gate A of the stadium.

The Cowboys had the statue put in place at the old Irving stadium for the 2001 season, after Landry died of Leukemia in 2000.

"Tom Landry is an icon, and they make statues for icons," team spokesman Rich Dalrymple said when the statue was removed from Texas Stadium in March. "On game days, people are lined up two or three hours prior to the game to get their picture made by this statue. And we want it to be a significant attraction at the new stadium as well."

Jimmy did great but Tom will always hold a special place after leading this franchise for 29 years. Tom statue needs to stand alone, put Jimmy on the other side. :laugh2:

We have one that's on top of the scoreboard that will light up.. but I'm not sure what the deal is with that if the roof is closed?
