Cowboys' fans should like this one. The NFL Network is airing a top-10 on the top players not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Bob Hayes is on the list. The program will air Tuesday.

Here's the list from the NFL Network:

Ken Anderson - Played for the Cincinnati Bengals in a club-record 16 seasons earning four Pro Bowl selections. Named 1981 AP NFL MVP in leading team to Super Bowl XVI. Completed 66.3 percent of his postseason passes for 93.5 career playoff passer rating.

Cris Carter - Ranks second all time in catches (1,101) and touchdown receptions (130) after 16-year career. Selected for eight Pro Bowls and posted eight consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.

"Bullet" Bob Hayes - Former "World's Fastest Man" (100 meter champion in 1964 Olympics) holds Dallas Cowboys team records for touchdown receptions (71) and yards per catch (20.0).

Alex Karras - Detroit Lions' 1958 first-round draft pick played 12 seasons and was selected to four Pro Bowls.

Jerry Kramer - Five-time NFL champion with the Green Bay Packers, was named to NFL's 50th Anniversary Team.

Jim Marshall - Played in most consecutive games (282) by non-kicker in NFL history and ranks second in Minnesota Vikings history with 127 sacks. Started in four Super Bowls for the Vikings.

Ken "The Snake" Stabler - Led the Oakland Raiders to first Super Bowl title (SB XI) and passed for 27,000 yards in 15 NFL seasons. Contributed to some of the NFL's most memorable plays - "Holy Roller," "Ghost to the Post," and "Sea of Hands."

Steve Tasker - Selected to record seven Pro Bowls as a special-teamer. Played in four consecutive Super Bowls with the Buffalo Bills.

Derrick Thomas - Holds NFL records for sacks in a game (seven) and career forced fumbles (45). Selected to nine consecutive Pro Bowls and posted club-record 126.5 sacks in 11 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ricky Watters - Tied Super Bowl record with three touchdowns in Super Bowl XXIX for the San Francisco 49ers. Five-time Pro Bowl selection ranks 14th in NFL history with 14,891 scrimmage yards.

NFL's Top 10 is a weekly, fast-paced countdown series that provides a look at some of the most intriguing subjects in the NFL including debate from network analysts, sports journalists, sports radio personalities, players, coaches and other NFL insiders.

No kidding. Other than Derrick Thomas, Cris Carter, and Bob Hayes the rest of that list is crap. Where is Randy Gradishar? Where is Bob Kuechenberg? Where is Cliff Harris? Where is Chuck Howley?

That list is a joke. These guys just do not get it.

Super Bowl rings: 1
Avg. team defensive rank: 6.3 (out of 14-26 teams)
Cold, Hard Football Facts: 25 interceptions, 17 fumble recoveries. Made the playoffs eight straight seasons.

Offensive HOF equivalent: Art Shell. A late bloomer who dominated for perennial Super Bowl contenders.

The case against: He was basically out of football after flaming out with the Bears in 1959, but resurrected his career as a street free agent. He didn’t make the all-1960s team – and three guys ahead of him at linebacker on that list are not in the Hall (Tommy Nobis, Larry Morris, Dave Robinson). He didn’t become a top player until his late 20s, and played outside linebacker (not the glamour position it is today).

The case for: If Hall of Famers are judged by Super Bowl success, then how is Howley not in? He won Super Bowl MVP honors of a game the Cowboys didn’t even win, then came back the next year and contributed an INT and a fumble recovery to lead the Dallas to its first crown. Basically, he had a Lynn Swann postseason career, and a much better regular-season career, and didn’t even get a sniff of the Hall.

In summary: If they kept tackle and sack stats in those days, Howley’s numbers would surely be too much for even the tunnel-visioned Hall voters to ignore. But his postseason resume and general excellence should be enough. He has every quality a Hall of Famer is meant to have – dominance, play for great teams, Super Bowl excellence, longevity. Everything but a flashy jersey number and a movie cameo. But that’s the defenseman’s plight.

Another non-Cowboy who should be considered but has been snubbed is former Falcon's center Jeff Van Note. The guy was one of the top centers in the league for very long time but not many centers get noticed by the HoF selection committee.

Hayes, who doesn't appear to be wearing pants in this photo (look away, WG), should get in just for being a pioneer of sorts at his position. Just ask Renaldo Nehemiah how hard it is to make the transition.
