Troy Aikman.

That's what Aikman said in a telephone conversation yesterday. Aikman believes it takes an old Cowboys QB to know how a Cowboys QB feels when things aren't going quite right.

"No one in that (Valley Ranch) facility, coaches' office, locker room knows what Tony is going through. I do. It's a roller coaster. You feel like you are absolutely alone. No one else gets it.

"When I was playing, when our team was struggling, you felt the weight of the city was on your back. That comes with the dinner. And it's harder now than it was."

I bet Danny White might know a thing or two about it.

True but because of years of failure that was taking place before Romo ever became QB I think he is getting it worse than White. Add to that there is just a lot more media outlets who hammer on players than when Danny was playing

isnt awesome how the eagles are beloved and thought of as this amazing franchise, which they are extremely successfull, but really they are just like the early 80s cowboys.

those cowboys teams are thought of as failures and people discredit everything aobut Danny White. then in the next breath those same people act like Mcnabb is a hall of famer.

And what's wrong with the early 80s Cowboys squads?

Those teams were very successful, they just couldn't get past the NFC Championship Game.

Heck, 2 out of 3 of the teams they lost too, went on to win the Super Bowl.

Good observation. I never looked at the eagles like the 80's cowboys but there are some similarities

That was the point, when cowboys fans and nfl fans in general talk about the 80s cowboys they always talk down about guys like danny white. All we hear about is how they lost nfc championship games. I was just simply pointing out that when these same types of people talk about this eagles group its how they make it to nfc championship games.

Both are major accomplishments.

Somewhat true, but Romo never had to directly follow up one of the greatest to ever suit up for this team. White's accomplishments would have made him the toast of the town in most other places at the time with the exception of maybe Dallas or Pittsburgh. He played a lot of good games for this team but even so, he wasn't Roger Staubach so he got panned.

I'm not saying Danny did not have it rough he did I remember it very well. I sat in the stands listening to the bone heads hollering and booing White. As I said though I think the frustration of years even before Romo took over gets heaped on his back along with some others who have not been here that long. I also tend to agree with what Aikman said last week and that is the big reason why Dallas now has higher expectation is because of Romo

Yep and that is what Troy said. It takes a Cowboys QB to understand what Tony is going through.

It's true though. I don't know what he's going through right now, but I do understand it. Look at all the threads on this one site talking about benching him. He's just one man with expectations from so many people. Hopefully he lives up to them, but I can fully understand why he would feel that way.

It's hard to make the Danny White comparison, which ties into what Troy is saying because the scrutiny is 20 fold now.

We weren't watching PTI every day hearing about failures or debating Troy on message boards or twittering about Michael and the White House. Tony can never escape it, day after day. It's gotta be brutal.

On a side note, I see Troy quoted quite a bit about the Cowboys and I can see where other teams are hesitant in supplying information to him for Fox broadcasts.

Do I ever think Troy would undermine that trust or not act appropriately?
Absolutely not.

Do I understand the concern?
Absolutely.

Well he is a Cowboys legend.

However, when I'm doing my daily Cowboys searches, I see Troy's comments on other teams for the games he does. It's just that this is a Cowboys forum so most times only his Cowboys quotes are posted. Also, with the Cowboys being the national game on Fox so much, Aikman couldn't get away from discussing the 'boys if he'd wanted to.
