The Butler did it

If Victor Butler picks up on offensive sets the way he does roster situations, his latest move should be a smooth one.
The rookie now finds himself at strong side linebacker behind Anthony Spencer after spending all of training camp on the weak side. A season-ending injury to rookie Brandon Williams and the tendinitis that has plagued Justin Rogers necessitated the move.
"That's really the only alternative we have to get two deep and get working,'' linebackers coach Reggie Herring said. "If there is a positive, Victor is athletic and he's smart and he ought to make the transition fairly easy, we hope.''
Butler began to study the position, which requires more coverage responsibilities than the weak side, before he was informed of the switch. He knew Williams and Rogers were beat up and did the math.
"I mean, you knew something was going to happen somewhere,'' Butler said. "I got my mind ready, studied my playbook, came in on Saturday for treatment, talked to coach, and sure enough, that's where they were moving me too.
"It's a little extra work, but that never killed anybody.''
