No more Mr. Fix-It

VERNON BRYANT / DMN
Wade Phillips has lived up to the Mr. Fix-It nickname he gave himself during a press conference with the Cowboys forcing nine turnovers over the last two games.

But Phillips regrets uttering those words and asked that the local media refrain from using the nickname from here on out.

"I did say Mr Fix-It, but I am getting tired of people demeaning me about it," Phillips said. "I know that you can go ahead and do what you want to do, but I'm just being honest about it. If it's ridicule, it may be deserved. Whatever. But I don't appreciate it, I can tell you that.

"Again, you can write what you want to write and you can put that behind my name, but it's not going to be on my gravestone."

Well, golly, now I feel bad.

People, particularly the media, are always quick to demean others. Well, the Cowboys are 3-0 and who would have thought it. Wade certainly does his job better then those so-called "SuperSportsWriters" the media calls each other at DMN. Most of those writers couldn't hold down a real job if their life depended on it.

I'm glad Wade is honest about it, but he shouldn't let those clowns know that they bother him.

How much do you wanna bet this it directed to JFE above all others.

I like Wade, he is a good coach and a good person, which is rear this day and age. Hopefully he found a new home here with the Boys.

That second clip in your sig is really confusing. And I have no earthly idea what Barber was doing. But it's strange as heck to watch.

I would say that people in general have this tendancy, but the media has a better vehicle with which to ridicule to the masses.

I think he was expecting #17 to do the "jump chest bump" that the players do...but #17 did not respond like Barber thought, so he jumped but Hurd did not...

:laugh2:

It appears to me the Barber was expecting a chest bump from TO or Hurd or both, but they left him hanging, so he just ran off in embarassment. At least I think that might be what he was doing.

Good, it's petty and annoying. He was obviously joking when he used it initially.

The foot comes down and punts a ball of hate right in the butt.

Exactly. Now some of these guys will just use it more.

Geez, and this is when we're 3-0. We haven't even lost a game yet.

I hope Wade's skin is thick enough for this job, because I really like him and the job he's doing.

I think most of the sportswriters in Dallas act like spoiled children anyway. I fully expect them to continue doing this in much the same way a two year old looks right at you and disobeys.

At my house, that behavior ends up with my son getting his punishment and learning better. In the media, I'm betting it ends up as fodder for more stupid comments and an attempt to squeeze higher ratings out of it.

The really sad thing is that Wade made the comment in jest, and it's been used virtually every single day. And after the games, that's all we heard...

Again, it's about par for the course with some of the guys working in the media. They use that comment, talk about Roy Willie, bring up the bobbled snap and ask how Romo will recover.
