This from special contributor William Bendetson at the NFL owners meetings in Orlando, Fla.
Wade Phillips all but admitted Wednesday morning this is the most relaxed he has been since he took the job four years ago - probably because the Cowboys won their first playoff game in 13 years.
"It was something the players had to hear a lot about," Phillips said. "So it can affect your team. I wasn't here for all 13 of those years, but it was good to get that off your back."
Phillips isn't worried about what fans think of him, but far more concerned about having the support of his players - something he thinks he has earned. Phillips discussed the expectations of coaching in a market where it is Super Bowl or bust - mentioning Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson. Phillips, who has 81 wins as a coach, needs just two wins next season to pass his father Bum's career total.
"You don't always want to go to a market that has that tradition and be compared that way," Phillips mused. "I go back to a George Halas line that says if you win it is about the players and if you lose it is about the coaches."
