Even though the Cowboys scored 37 points, it's not surprising that a coach with a defensive background like Wade Phillips wanted to talk mostly about his defense.

Phillips talked about the pressure the Cowboys applied to the Falcons, which generated three turnovers (two interceptions and a fumble) and four sacks. It seemed like the Cowboys were headed for anything but after Atlanta drove 80 yards on the first drive of the game. The Falcons had just 210 yards in the final 52 minutes.

"After the first series, I think we established that we were going to put a lot of pressure on them," Phillips said. "I think you have to be able to make plays and we did that today. The pressure wasn't from anything that we don't normally run. The one time we did do something different, they threw a touchdown against us. We got the turnovers we are looking for and things are looking good for our defense.

"It was our best game overall. But that's also perception. When you beat a team that made the playoffs last year and came in here 4-1, that's impressive. We've won some other games."

I guess you can say that as far as execution goes, but those penalties need to go

I just don't buy the notion that the refs at training camps are fans so our players aren't getting good practice.

Is it me, or was Brooking really really really enjoying this win?

I agree with Wade on that. I do, however, see room for improvement with the mental mistakes and yellow flags.

Add another really and I'd agree.

Yeah he was so hyped throughout the game, I thought he'd pass out.

Yeah, I saw a glimpse of him running up and down the sidelines with the offense again. Like the Madden comment on Ratlif, Brookings does not seem to have an off switch...
