Wade: Romo's fine

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips update the injury situation of all his players.
And he did try to shoot down speculation on lingering effects from Tony Romo's thumb injury, suffered two weeks ago against the Eagles.

"I thought the first series of the second half, he came back out, he was into it," Phillips said. "He had one that would’ve been a 60-yard touchdown, obviously. And the guy dropped it, and that’s when I took him out of. But I thought he was back into the game, he was sharp."

Here's where the rest stand:

-- CB Terence Newman and NT Jay Ratliff should both be ready to go when the team starts practice up on Wednesday. Both, Phillips said, could've gone on Sunday if they'd been needed.

-- S Keith Davis, says the coach, is fine after spraining his left knee after getting rolled up with teammate Justin Rogers on Sunday.

-- C Andre Gurode and WR Terrell Owens are more "iffy" when it comes to practicing this week, Wade said. Owens remains in a boot, while Gurode's still coming back from his sprained MCL. Phillips added he expects both to be ready to play in the playoff game in 13 days.

-- And finally, WR Terry Glenn looks fine after getting through his first game back. The coach said, "Terry Glenn came through, got banged up a couple of times which was really good for him. That’s exactly what we wanted. I wanted better field conditions and I was worried about that going in. We felt like it was better off for him to get in some action and get banged around a little bit and actually he got banged around pretty good."

Strap your helments up.

We just might see Owens, Glenn, and Crayton on the field together once again.

Good news all the way around hopefully its all true.

As far as Tony goes that pass to Austin which Wade talks about had some heat on it. It traveled about 30 yds in the air on a string, if you watch the replay you can see it hit Austins hands so hard it knocked his hands back. He just wasn't ready for that hard a delivery.

Let's not make excuses for Austin's shortcomings. He dropped another easy TD from B. Johnson in the end zone. Maybe its the weather, but damn.

Oh that wasn't my intention, I agree with you he should have caught the ball. My remarks were because I had read a few posts asking about Tony's thumb or the gloves he had on. He was throwing heat which I think bodes well for his thumb.

Yessir. That's 95% of the news. Now I want to see the TO news so it can go to 100%.

It's funny that you did your quotes in red, because from what I hear, the Commanders are going all the way, baby!

so it's possibly going to take 18 weeks to get every single starter playing simultaneously on both sides of the ball (minus fergie)

and people say injuries haven't had a major effect on this team :laugh2:

I find it funny that people make a bigger deal out of our 5th WR dropping a couple of passes, yet TO (who drops more than his fair share) gets a pass everytime.

Austin wasn't the only Cowboy to drop passes yesterday. And both teams had about the same amount of drops.

I agree though, that he should have caught it. I'm just saying if people are gonna throw a fit when he drops a pass, they should do the same when TO drops a pass.

I agree. But T.O. has been our playmaker on offense this season and moreso often than not, makes the big catch as opposed to dropping it.

Agreed, but he's also our #1 WR. Austin is our #5 WR.

The thing about Austin is he actually has the potential to be a good #1, so maybe that's why people are harder on him then TO.

Plus, TO has 25 million reasons to make the big catch... maybe Austin needs a raise? :D

There's no question that if Austin can work on his hands a bit more, he has all the physical tools necessary to be a good wideout. Just that hands thing is pretty major.

I just hope Wade is telling us the straight poop on Glenn. I still think we get TO, Crayton, Glenn, Witten and Barber on the field at the same time we can do some damage.

If Austin would settle down and stop looking around for the kicker, he might turn out good?

Watching that game last night, I saw all kinds of jersey numbers in there on the defense and offense. Backups, playing their hardest, against NFCE rivals, in bad conditions.

They learned something...Guaranteed.

Actually, it's smart to let our starters heal up, I think Wade is doing the right thing...

The best might be coming...

Good because the only time he should be on the field is in a 3 WR set or if you need a fair catch inside the 20 on a punt.

I didn't see anything from Glenn that makes me glad he will be back on the field. He looked super slow.
