What to expect Sunday, stadium perspective

The Cowboys are keeping under wraps their plans for Sunday's opener at Cowboys Stadium as far as how and when they will unveil the Ring of Honor and other pre-game festivities.

But having been to the stadium this morning, you should know that the Ring of Honor names have been put in place but are covered up. From the configuration, it looks like the names will be in the same order as they were at Texas Stadium with the Triplets - Michael Irvin, Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith - standing alone on one side of the stadium.

The star has yet to be placed at midfield, but Jerry Jones said it is coming in time for kickoff.

And Jones is looking forward to the overhead shot of the stadium with the roof open.

"It's really distinguishing," Jones said. "That'll be fun for everybody and of course we will have that star on the field at that time. The bottomline is it'll be a nice shot."

And if you were wondering if you could go to the stadium to watch the Cowboys play when they are on the road, don't bother.

"As is stands right now my understanding is that would be outside of what we can do," Jones said. "That might all have a chance to be revisited because we're doing a different evaluation of who's watching the games relative to metering Nielsen [ratings] and things like that. It's always been a takeaway because you didn't want people to aggregate and not have the ratings with the homes and the restaurants."

Wow! I hadn't thought of the possibility of having the game on in the stadium when the Cowboys are away. That would be really cool if they figure out a way to do it and still account for ratings!

yeah my concern is are some fans going to be in the plazas and mall shopping while the game is going on and seats wont be full? How would that reflect on the dallas cowboys players?

We need that stadium full and to the brim rocking with noise for the cowboys.

Well I think filling the stadium during an away game is a little unrealistic. It would be more of a 'party' atmosphere than a game atmosphere. That's a given.
