DMN Blog: Who should start at cornerback?

There is no mystery here. Both will start .... because Newman will go down with some injury again. If Scandrick does not get the starters nod, he will see plenty of action as the slot corner.

The bigger issue is who will be the 4th corner, b/c that guy is going to see a significant amount of playing time when Newman gets injured, again.

This team has kept Quincy Butler around forever even though isn't a special teamer so it may well be him unless a 5th, 6th or 7th round pick beats him out.

I don't expect us to look to a free agent and I don't expect us to spend a day 1 pick.

I didn't say that he wasn't. It just seems like a stretch to say that Scandrick is going to be one of the best shutdown CBs and that Jenkins was a waste of a pick.

He was a bit better mr capslock but it wasn't night and day.

Jenkins simply doesn't get beaten badly because he has great raw tools. He needs to play with better technique and lord knows he could a lesson in tackling from the pop warner guys but he can flat out cover. Scandrick struggled a bit late in the year when he was asked to cover better WRs.

Exactly... Love Scandrick, but Jenkins is more the prototype outside guy with the better height and the long arms. I was impressed with how many times he got his hands on the ball even in limited opportunities. All he has to do is work and study hard... And of course, tackle.

This is the last year of Henry's contract. It wouldn't shock me to see him be the surprise cut or traded.

Huh? Jenkins has nice Speed...but i believe Scandrick is faster and quicker

As far as who starts...good question.....i love Scandrick an Jenkins....Jenkins maybe =more INTS, but i think Scandrick is a little bit better of a shut down Corner...and is kinda my Fav

I think they will be talking about him soon, like they were Asomugha(think spelling is right) he might become the Next Champ, especially if he nags ints...and with his Attitude he will get the press D hall use too.....only that he can cover better

If Henry is back next year I will be really disappointed. If he is back and starting I might get sick.

Well hopefully the coaching staff will just move Henry to FS. They should have let Hamlin walk because he's severely overrated. They could have used a 2nd round pick on a true strong safety.

I'd be really disappointed in Scandrick and Jenkins if Henry was still a starting corner for us next year.

I don't see Henry starting next year though.

Alot depends on what happens with Roy Williams but Henry will either be a starting saftey or a backup corner next year.

you guys act as if hes always injured.....Someone rolls up on him, n he pulls his groin, he gets Hernia, and plantar Fascitis (whatever the name is) and played through it.....and he hurt his ankle....lets relax..if it happens again this year then we can panic

I fully expect Newman to be a starter but I would have these guys compete for the starting jobs right now maybe every player on the team needs to be competing for their jobs

I really like Scandrick i think he really has the potential to be a probowl CB one day. Jenkins has a lot of talent although i gotta admit im still not over the lack of heart he showed at the end of the Giants game but i wont get too into that right now. Hopefully both will push eachother to become better the fact that they are rookies just turnin to 2 year pros gives me hope that they are hungry to do so. This is what the OP in the other thread was askin Wade to do and in this case i think it could work out since they are still making their mark in this league!
