Why digital board went dark

The largest digital video board in human history went dark for a brief period in the second half of Sunday's game at Cowboys Stadium.

What happened? Did Jerry Jones forget to pay the electricity bill?

No. It turns out the company that built the board inputted all of the start times and programmed the board to turn off roughly three hours after the games expire. The Cowboys-Eagles game was originally scheduled to be a noon start but was moved back to 3:15 p.m. Since no one changed the start time in the programming, the board shut down.

The Cowboys staff immediately realized what happened. All it took to get the board back up and running with a push of the buitton.

I wish there was a shot of JJ immediately after the boards went dark. He had to be pale as a ghost. :)

Take away his liver spots and shadows from his wrinkles and he is probably already pale as a ghost.:p:

They showed Jerry when that happened. IT was funny because the board went dark, Jerry noticed and stood up, then bang, it was back on. It was like Jerry waved his magical hands and all was good again.

I thought one of Jerry grand kids may have hit the remote control on it. I was expecting to see Hedi come on at any second. :laugh1:

So what happens if a team "accidentally" shuts off the power in a critical time in the game essentially giving them an extra time out?

Ours was pure accident. But I'm just curious.

Just as it is with the time all that is kept on the field, the stadium clock is adjusted to what the refs say it is.

the game could have continued. the game clock in the middle of the field was still on as were the play clocks in each corner. the scoreboards and ribbon video boards were dark but it would have only been inconvenient not impossible to continue play.

the 2:27 on the left side of the pic is the game clock.

I could continue without the stadium clock. The offical time is kept on the field not on the stadium board.

I thought I read or heard somewhere that Steven got bored with the blow out and tried to hook his Xbox up the board to play a little Madden Football
