Hall of Fame scribe Rick "Goose" Gosselin wrote about the recent boom in outstanding tight ends, and we'll see two of the league's best Sunday in Cleveland. Jason Witten ranks right at the top of the list in terms of being an all-around player.
Don't take my word for it. Ask the Browns' Kellen Winslow Jr., which Albert "Einstein" Breer recently did.
Winslow, whose father might be the best tight end of all-time, said Witten's blocking separated him from the other premier pass catchers at the position.
"He's one of the best blockers in the league, regardless of position," Winslow said. "He doesn't get enough credit for it."
Witten set franchise receiving records for a tight end with 96 catches and 1,145 yards. But he'd rather have a big block than a big catch.
"Just because the passing game comes natural to you," Witten said. "I think a lot of guys can do that. But to really separate yourself and be complete, that's the way I can do it."
