Hall of Fame scribe Rick "Goose" Gosselin wrote about the recent boom in outstanding tight ends, and we'll see two of the league's best Sunday in Cleveland. Jason Witten ranks right at the top of the list in terms of being an all-around player.
Don't take my word for it. Ask the Browns' Kellen Winslow Jr., which Albert "Einstein" Breer recently did.
Winslow, whose father might be the best tight end of all-time, said Witten's blocking separated him from the other premier pass catchers at the position.
"He's one of the best blockers in the league, regardless of position," Winslow said. "He doesn't get enough credit for it."
Witten set franchise receiving records for a tight end with 96 catches and 1,145 yards. But he'd rather have a big block than a big catch.
"Just because the passing game comes natural to you," Witten said. "I think a lot of guys can do that. But to really separate yourself and be complete, that's the way I can do it."

That really means alot coming from one of the best in the game himself in Winslow... Seriously, Witten is not a burner at all, teams know where he's coming from and he STILL hauls in all of those passes. Amazing. Cooley is half the play Witten is Witten is a much more accomplished blocker.

And we are still waiting on your great contribution to the forum. If you don't have anything nice to say, then keep your pie hole shut.

Crazy doesn't bother anyone so why pick on him?

I disagree with Witten not being a burner. He has great speed for a TE.

I think his greatest asset is his understanding of the nuances of the game. He knows when to settle, he almost always gets off of the LOS, and he knows how to look for the ball at the last minute. Watching Witten is a pure joy and I am glad that he is finally getting his props from the national media.

He has something to say

"Great post, thanks for sharing"

You on the other hand, have nothing to say.

Maybe you should re-think your position.

My friend, Crazy Cowboy is pretty well liked on this board. Even if his posts carry no meaning to you personnally, they never carry any malice towards another poster. If you don't like to see his posts, it is fairly easy to put him on ignore.

Witten works his butt off on and off the field which makes him who he is today.

Jason Witten is comparable to Jerry Rice to me in many ways. Not in the sense that I'm saying he's the greatest of all time, though he's on his way to a hall of fame career. What I mean is he's like Rice in that he may not be the fastest guy on the field, but his precise route running and the way he never gives up where his route is going to take him allow him to get open pretty much at will.

Of course much like Rice he's also a very hard worker, and a tough guy who plays hard every snap. It's ridiculous how good he's been since coming into the league at age 20.
