With contract signed, Eagles are Marc Colombo's only worry

RT Marc Colombo chatted with the handful of media members who made their way out to Valley Ranch on Christmas, because a player is pretty much obligated to talk after signing a contract extension.

Colombo publicly thanked the Jones family again for giving him a four-year, $22 million deal to keep him with the Cowboys. But Colombo, who arrived at Valley Ranch as a reclamation project after knee injuries ruined the first-round pick's Chicago tenure, clearly wasn't in a reflective mood.

"I'll think about that after the season," Colombo said. "We've got Philadelphia to worry about right now."

Colombo has been the Cowboys' most consistent offensive lineman this season, and he's considered a leader of that unit. He has physical limitations, but he's a brawler who brings it every play.

"We have a pretty physical offensive line, and he's one of the more physical guys," Wade Phillips said. "He's after 'em every play, and that carries over to other people."

absolutely LOVE this contract extension, IMO he's been our best OL.

They're saying this because he's white. He's an athlete, not a mauler.

What on earth are you talking about?

They are saying that because he's now overly quick or overly strong, but he fights every play.

I've been on the Colombo bandwagon for a few years now. I'm glad they thought they could afford the guy. We need to get some depth on the OL and some young guys to eventually take over.

We need some more heavy duty workers on this team. We have enough glitz and glamour.

I'm going to assume this was said in jest.

I see, how come Joe Thomas is considered an Athlete and that too a premier LT in NFL already?

I think they're saying that because he has physical limitations and he's a nasty SOB!

Rewarding mediocrity continues.

Columbo's a JAG. We undoubtedly have the most overpaid OL in the history of the NFL.

Only a true know nothing would call Colombo a JAG.
A solid RT with a nasty attitude and very consistent is much more then that.
Petitti and Tucker and a couple of other memorable types were JAGS.

I love the way hes the first to defend any Cowboy that gets into a scuffle, whenever that happens her comes columbo to straighten out any enemy that thinks they can pick on a little RB or a skinny receiver.

Man, I love seeing #75 enter the frey!

He's a good guy to keep around if nothing else, but for the attitude. I feel like he's THE guy on the OL even if he isn't the best player. And that said he's not bad at what he does. For anyone who wants to be debbie downer on his performance go watch the guys who played right tackle over the few years before he cemented himself as the starter. In fact, I feel like he was the best lineman here the first year he started. I wish the Cowboys had some kind of drafting acumen in regards to offensive lineman, but they don't. We could do a lot worse than Columbo since this is the situation we're in.

True.

It does seem to affect whether someone is a good CB or HB, though.

If the others on the OL had Columbo's attitude and the rest of the team for that matter, this team would be a lot better. His attitude is what is missing from the rest of this team and if the others had it, this team would have as good a record as last year, maybe better.
