You won't see the starters much, if any, in preseason finale

Wade Phillips stopped short of declaring that the Cowboys' starters wouldn't play Friday night in Minnesota, but he basically said he'd seen enough from his starters this preseason.
Phillips pointed out that the starters had success in all three games. The stats support that claim. When starters were on the field, a span of a little less than five quarters, the Cowboys outscored their opponents by a 31-16 margin and had a yardage advantage of 519 to 214.
While Phillips acknowledged there are things the starters can clean up -- and they should have scored more points with those kind of yardage totals -- the primary goals in the preseason finale are to avoid key injuries and figure out which backups can contribute.
"We're not there yet, but I feel good about the first group," Phillips said. "We want to see about the substitutes. We want to see who can help that first group. That's the challenge this week for guys, if they can show they're good enough to help that first group."
