TOPIC:" With mental being a huge part of the game, how much (if any) did Bill Parcell's (TUNA) hiring of Tony Sparano, Jeff Ireland, and others (and the rumors of it) along with Jason Garrett's interviews, and Jerry's open door policy affect the focus of the Cowboys to adequately prepare mentally, for the playoffs? It just seemed all three phases of the game were out of sync and not as focused as you were at mid-season." In contrast, the Giants and Patriots refused to let their coaches interview because, "they wanted to focus on winning a championship."
- Mr. Intensity

The Cowboys losing was a direct reflection of the team from up north making plays when it counted. The coaching situation had absolutely nothing to do with our lost. I want to inform the world on what Wade said to us before the season start " you guys are the one's playing not us". This was to let us know that the coaches can't play a down for you. Winning and losing will depend solely on execution.People can say a team was out coached but I don't buy that. The players got out executed. No matter what the play call is, if the players don't execute then it's just X's and O's.

Look at the fact that Sparano was not hired as head coach until after the playoff game. I hope as fans you don't believe we were distracted by Jeff Ireland leaving. I have the up most respect for Jeff. Bill, Jeff and their staff drafted me so I don't have one negative thing to say about them. Now I will say Jeff and a few members of their staff talked with me before the game and told me "this is a once in a lifetime opportunity make it count". Furthermore I'm saying Jeff wanted the team to be focused and I know he wouldn't have done anything to distract this team from winning. Why would he do that when this was pretty much Bill and Jeff's team? I believe the same with Garret. Jason still had to coach in the game a Super Bowl win looks good on any ones resume.Winning a Super Bowl means more money and more jobs for everyone around the organization. To use the coaches as an excuse for losing would be pretty sorry from my stand point. We have a saying around Valley Ranch NO EXCUSES.

BTW- Mr. Intensity your acting like you need a drink. If you act like that again I will be sending you a bottle of Patron. (Friendly Joke) Nobody blow this out of proportion. Mr. Intense we're cool right?

When you send me a topic please don't expect me to post your topic right away. I like to try and tie in relevant issues especially if we have good dialect going. I don't want to just pop up a topic out of the blue. LOOK at TANK and JAY

I'm a big fan of Kevin Burnett, and execution does win games. However, coaching matters, and Dallas straight-up was out coached in that game.

Allowing Steve Smith to get matched-up deep on Roy Williams before the half was getting out-coached.

Not deploying the "Cowboy formation" more in that game is getting out coached. Manning was sacked 5 times, picked off twice, and was confused in the second game at the Meadowlands. Why didn't Phillps use that package more, especially before the half?

Running Marion Barber and the offensive line into the ground during the first half and early in the third quarter led to the fourth quarter. Yes. Dallas should have had a TD on the first drive out of the half, and the long drive before the half by Dallas was excellent. Nevertheless, a proven formula for success was put aside for a "Bizarro" game plan. Dallas played the way the Giants want to play. As a result, the game was shortened by ball control, and the score was kept close, just like the Giants wanted. The Giants didn't bust punt coverage, and they didn't get real penalties or phantom penalties. Dallas played right into their hands. Points come out of the passing game, and Dallas didn't put the pressure on Manning to score.

Romo hung 45 and 31 points on the Giants in the first two games. When Dallas busted 30, they won. Eli Manning and the run happy Giants couldn't keep up with Romo. All year long, Dallas passed first, took the lead, and pounded Barber late. It was a proven formula. Why mess with it in the playoffs? When Romo threw the ball in the first half, guys were wide open and making plays. Dallas should have made the Giants play their game.

I don't want to hear about T.O. being hurt or Romo's thumb. Romo had Owens for six in the second half, but he was drilled by Tuck as he threw the ball. Therefore, the ball fell short of a wide open Owens. Owens ran by three of their defensive backs with ease.

If that long drive before the half happens in the fourth quarter, Dallas wins. Instead, the Giants rested at half-time and gained hope after Dallas' offensive line looked tired late in the game.

Yes. Some big mistakes were made by some players. However, Dallas' game plan on offense can be called into question, and the defensive calls can be called into question as well. Where was the "Cowboy front"? Why is Terence Newman passing off Steve Smith to Roy Williams in the deep third before the half?
