I also have a question for you, should the preseason be cut down? Perhaps 2- 3 games maybe in the case of you all the fans would that make the season to short?

Yes, I think it should definitely be cut down to two or three games (and I still wouldn't play my starters more than a quarter's worth at any point). But it wouldn't make the season too short because I'd tack on two games to the regular season.

What is Burnett worried about? His preseason was only two games anyways. :laugh2:

The same argument applies here for those who do poorly. It's only preseason. Having said that, however, I truly hope that his preseason form continues. Although I've complained about his coverage ability recently, that was mainly because he no longer intimidated and scared receivers to limit throwing in his area. If he gets back to making receivers short arm receptions then I will be happy. If he does this AND improves his coverage, well then, I will get down on my knees and sing hallelujah! Keep going Roy. Show that your new found prowess isn't a fluke. ;)
I'm not that confident that Roy can improve that part of his game at this stage in his career. This will always be a weakness for him and I think fans should expect that at this point.

But like you said, if he goes back to being Roy the intimidator and pull off a few Woo hits along the way, then I think fans will be happy with that.

I have been a Roy apologist for some time and am happy to see the fire he has displayed. Loved his hit on the RB running up the middle and blowing up the lineman.

However I also acknowledge that without the criticism from the media and fans, he might just continue coasting himself off the team. I thought much of the criticism was uncalled for, but if he plays even better because of his determination to prove them wrong then so much the better.

That said, it's still friggin anoying hearing all the complaints from people that don't know what they are talking about and just want to pile on.

I'm hoping Roy has a good year and all, but this is far from an impartial evaluation. It's praise from his teammate. Other than his immediate family, who else is going to going to be first in line to stick up for Roy?

Let's not get too excited about the rebirth of Roy Williams until he has to face teams that are gameplanning against him. That's if Stewart actually has him on the field in situations where the defense would gameplan against him.

I know I would because, as you pointed out, coverage was never a strong point of his game anyways. But if he goes back to making those bone crushing hits, I think it will change how teams game plan him him and all the Dallas fans will be happy.

What was Tuna's stat. You typically replace 20% [not sure if that is right] of your team. So you are really evaluating less. Because you pretty much know what, at least 40 to 45 of that will make the team. So a shortened pre-season by a game or two, would not hurt. Or at least from a fan perspective. Coaches would not agree, as they want that time to evaluate, try things out.

The owners would have an issue with it, because they'd be missing out on the revenue from those 1 or 2 games that were dropped. They would want to add another game or 2 to the regular schedule to make up for it.

I wouldn't mind a shortened pre-season if the NFL added another game or two. Heck, I wouldn't mind having no pre-season games the college level seems to do alright without them.

That is true, they would lose millions from it. Tickets, concessions, parking, advertising.

The problem with adding more regular season games is more wear and tear on the players. Let's face it, the top players don't see much action in the preseason. If these were real games, they'd be playing 4 full quarters. Of course, every team would have to play, so that would equalize it. But IMO, a 16 game season is grueling enough.

roy will be fine except when steve slaton is running or that shifty white tight end needed covered, lol.jk

I'm not. The guys who don't think he's crap don't feel it necessary to point out he's been playing well.

.
That's pretty funny.

Its real simple ...... some posters have invested so much in "calling out Roy" that they can never go back to being fans ...... they will always hope he fails so they can say "See, I was right"

Puhlease...

I'll give him credit, he is definitely hitting better than he has in a couple of years. I'll also say that his attitude seems really good.

I still think the coverage is not where it needs to be but I am encouraged by his play.

I have often stated that I hope Roy proves me wrong, because he went from my favorite player to one of my most hated. He is no longer in the most hated category and is moving up the charts again.

That is a good sign...

Wow ..... hatred towards a Cowboys player proves my point.

What has happened that changed your mind from 2 days ago?

With Roy on the field, our athletism suffers and our pass defense suffers.

I agree with the OP completely. Maybe not cut Roy, but he needs to be replaced.

2 days ago you still had the opinion that Roy needs to be replaced .......
